Tile Mason
Responsibilities:
- Surface Preparation:
- Ensuring the cleanliness and levelness of the surface area to be tiled.
- Application of mortar cement or adhesives for proper tile bonding.
- Tile Layout and Design:
- Measurement and marking of surfaces for work layout.
- Cutting tiles to fit around obstacles and into irregular spaces using hand and power tools.
- Alignment of tiles and patterns according to design specifications.
- Installation:
- Setting tiles in place and ensuring proper alignment and spacing.
- Tapping tiles into place to ensure adhesion and an even surface.
- Use of spacers for uniform grout lines.
- Grouting and Finishing:
- Application of grout between tiles and wiping off excess.
- Sealing surfaces edges and joints as necessary.
- Polishing and cleaning finished work.
- Material Handling:
- Selection and mixing of appropriate tile adhesive or mortar.
- Cutting and shaping tiles as needed for corners curves and other non-standard areas.
- Maintenance and Repair:
- Removal and replacement of broken or damaged tiles.
- Re-grouting and resealing tiles to maintain surface integrity.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Following safety guidelines and wearing protective gear.
- Ensuring work complies with building codes and customer specifications.
- Customer Interaction (if applicable):
- Discussing project requirements and progress with clients or supervisors.
- Offering suggestions on tile selection patterns or layout.
Requirements
Requirements:
- 3 years of working experience as a tile mason or tile installer
- Ability to read blueprints floor plans and work orders
- Skill in cutting shaping and laying tile (ceramic porcelain marble etc.)
- Knowledge of surface preparation grouting and sealing
- Familiarity with tools such as wet saws trowels and tile cutters
Minimum of 3 years of experience in tile masonry.
