Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION Provide individual and small group tutoring for the MESA Program by integrating study and learning strategies that promote students to be independent learners. Assist students in improving academic achievement by clarifying learning problems and helping them develop problem-solving strategies and conceptual understanding. Tutors may assist students by reviewing class material discussing textbook and lecture content predicting test questions formulating ideas or working on solutions to assigned problems.
Desirable Qualifications
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Experience tutoring high school or college students in Math Physics or Chemistry. Experience collaborating with faculty staff and/or community leaders in programs and initiatives that are specifically designed to assist historically underrepresented students achieve their educational goals.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Extensive coursework in Math Physics and/or Chemistry. Proficient communication skills to clearly explain concepts to students. Communicate effectively in a timely manner with supervisor(s). Possession of an AA or BA preferred. Commitment to diversity. The applicant must be able to demonstrate how their experience with these factors relates to successfully achieving the goals of the position.
Work Schedule
Maximum of 26 hours per week
