JOB TITLE: Coordinator ESL & LPAC WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Director of Multilingual Services and Community Engagement

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Primary Purpose: Coordinate and support the core curriculum programs and Tier 1 initiatives across the district specifically in the areas of second language acquisition culturally responsive instruction and LPAC compliance. Serve as an instructional leader in the development of instructional programs in these areas in order to improve teacher efficacy. Support instructional staff by providing modeling and coaching cycles using research-based strategies in order to improve student learning outcomes and second language acquisition for Emerging Bilingual and English Learner students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Masters degree from accredited university in educational administration content area or curriculum and instruction preferred
Valid Texas teaching certificate including ESL Supplemental
Valid Texas Mid-management Certification preferred
Minimum of three years of effective teaching experience.
Teaching experience in ESL 6-12 preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
In-depth knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
Effectively evaluate programs in second language acquisition and culturally relevant instruction
In-depth knowledge of ESL programs curriculum and instructional best practices
In-depth knowledge of Chapter 89. Adaptations for Special Populations Subchapter BB. Commissioners Rules Concerning State Plan for Educating Emergent Bilingual Students
Effective instructional delivery techniques and the ability to guide and develop instructional support staff to improve teacher efficacy
Effectively establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers administrators community members students and other stakeholders
Effectively model best instructional practices in classrooms with EB/EL students
Effectively evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
Effectively collaborate with district/campus leaders teachers and instructional support staff
Effectively design and deliver professional development to adult learners
Effectively facilitate and model coaching conversations
Effectively interpret and use data to design high quality lessons and other instructional activities Demonstrate initiative and innovation in the work environment
Understand continuous improvement and ability to facilitate goal setting
Ability to interpret policy procedures and data
Strong communication public relations and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Minimum of three years teaching experience in content area assigned/certification in content area
Experience in school administration or school leadership preferred

Mental Demands:
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); ability to interpret policy procedures and data; coordinate district functions; maintain emotional control under stress.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Frequent district and some statewide travel in personal vehicle; occasional overnight travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; repetitive hand motions prolonged use of computer ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
