Job Description

Primary Purpose:

The Director of IT Operations provides strategic leadership and oversight for the planning

implementation and maintenance of technology infrastructure and support services across the district.

This position ensures the reliability security and performance of district-wide IT operations including

networking systems administration information systems desktop services and audio-visual support.

The Director collaborates with district leadership to support instructional and operational goals through

robust innovative and secure technology services.

Qualifications:

Education / Certification:

Bachelors degree required. Computer Science Information Technology or related field preferred.

Relevant certifications preferred (e.g. CompTIA Network CCNA/CCNP Microsoft)

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Strong understanding of enterprise-level network architecture cybersecurity practices server

infrastructure and data center management.

Proficiency in managing Microsoft Active Directory VMware backup systems and cloud services

(Azure Google Workspace etc.).

Experience with SIS platforms asset management systems and ticketing systems.

Excellent leadership project management and organizational skills.

Effective interpersonal and communication abilities with both technical and non-technical

audiences.

Strong knowledge of K-12 educational technology practices and compliance requirements (FERPA

CIPA E-rate etc.).

Experience/Other Requirements:

Minimum of 2 years of IT leadership experience preferably in a public school district or similar environment preferred.

Experience supervising multi-disciplinary technical teams.

Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale infrastructure projects and support operations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Direct supervision of:

Network Team

Systems Administrator

Information Systems Manager

Desktop/AV Coordinator and Team

Evaluate performance support growth and build capacity within the IT operations team.

Promote a culture of accountability service excellence and innovation.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Leadership and Strategy

  1. Support the CTO in developing and implementing the districts technology operational vision

and strategic plan.

  1. Lead and coordinate IT operational teams to ensure high availability security and reliability of

technology systems and infrastructure.

  1. Participate in technology budgeting and forecasting for operational services assets and

projects.

Infrastructure and Systems Oversight

  1. Ensure efficient secure operation of district networks servers telecommunications and

wireless infrastructure.

  1. Oversee implementation and maintenance of disaster recovery and business continuity systems.
  2. Manage vendor relationships and service agreements related to IT infrastructure and support.

Support Services and Operations

  1. Oversee the helpdesk desktop support and audiovisual support teams to ensure responsive

customer-focused technical support.

  1. Coordinate scheduling resource allocation and documentation practices to streamline support

services.

  1. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for system uptime ticket resolution

and service quality.

Compliance and Security

  1. Collaborate with the CTO on the development and enforcement of cybersecurity policies and

best practices.

  1. Maintain compliance with federal and state technology regulations and audit requirements.
  2. Assist in incident response planning reporting and resolution.

Collaboration and Communication

  1. Serve as a liaison between IT and district departments to ensure alignment of technology

services with organizational needs.

  1. Facilitate professional development and training for IT staff to promote continuous

improvement.

  1. Communicate technical plans and issues effectively to district stakeholders.
