Job Description

Primary Purpose
Established in 1851 University of the Pacific the oldest chartered school in the state of California is seeking a full time Assistant Director of Admission. The Assistant Director of Admission reports to the Senior Director of First-Year Admission and is responsible for meeting the undergraduate enrollment and tuition revenue goals of the University of the Pacific. Using professional judgment and nationally recognized best practices they are responsible for marketing the campus to a wide audience and must present information in an influential manner that drives enrollment. Under broad general direction from the Senior Director the Assistant Director of Admission must plan a strategized marketing effort within assigned territories to enroll an academically talented and diverse student population.

Essential Functions
Recruit students in an assigned territory by determining the appropriate travel schedules and marketing initiatives to drive enrollment goals. This includes but is not limited to high school visits community college visits large scale university expositions and other activities to gather leads. Being able to command both small and large audiences and speaking about the University of the Pacific in a professional style with influencing presentation skills is essential. During any year travel 8-10 weeks during the fall 2-4 weeks in the spring and 1-2 weeks during the summer to recruit students. Use professional initiative to develop an original marketing plan using the resources of the department for assigned territories. This includes developing unique and different strategies to meet enrollment goals as territories vary in need and requirements of the marketplace. Establishing long lasting relationships with counseling professionals parents alumni and others are essential. Successfully developing and deploying the plan are critical in driving enrollment goals as managers of assigned territories. Must be able to speak and present to a wide and varying audience to effect and drive applications and admissions to the University. This includes being able to interact with high school and community college students parents counselors school administrators coaches and other individuals. To be able to present both on and off campus and deliver a compelling case for enrollment at Pacific both in an individual and group setting. While attending high volume expositions to recruit students the Assistant Director must formulate quickly positive attributes of the University to effectively persuade and match potential students (and families) to our campus. Evaluate applications for admission and scholarship determination. This includes reviewing the academic coursework of the students in high school and community colleges and determining if the academic record shows progress for achievement at Pacific. To evaluate standardized test scores for admission reading essays and letters of recommendation to render a holistic admission decision based on professional judgment. During peak periods it is expected that the Assistant Director will evaluate 40-60 files per day and is an active member of the admission committee. Must possess the flexibility and wherewithal to operate in several databases at one time. This includes using Slate Naviance Visit Days and Banner. Must be able to navigate the systems to provide a high level of customer service to the public. Must understand the parameters for running ones own reports to monitor goal progress and be able to use the data to make decisions in recruitment territory management. Contact potential students via telephone text and email during and after normal business hours. Must respond to the requests for information to help students make the best decision about whether to attend at Pacific. Have the obligation to be financially prudent and given the autonomy to make decisions that allow purchasing of goods and services to drive enrollment needs. Plan organize and execute a variety of on campus and off campus events. This includes planning from the inception invite preparation messaging to potential students and families and then running of the actual event. These could include and are not limited to on campus open houses or hotel receptions. Will work cooperatively with faculty to understand the needs of the academic departments in marketing the university to potential students parents or counselors. Will develop and support initiatives that have a focus on diversity. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors Degree. One (1) year of related work experience in a college or university setting or customer service setting.

Preferred Qualifications
Three (3) years of related experience. Bilingual skills in Spanish. Excellent public speaking interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Exceptional organizational skills. Strong work ethic. Comfortable in a team-oriented collaborative work environment. Knowledge of and willingness to learn and work with technology specifically word processing environments internet navigation databases and e-mail correspondence. Positive attitude proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion. Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures. Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice equity and inclusion in a university setting. Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Work Schedule
Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment. May be required to work irregular hours and travel extensively (domestic and international) to meet business needs.
