Job Description
Shape the Future of Urban Mobility in Brookline
The Town of Brookline is seeking a dynamic and analytical Transportation Engineer to help design and manage safe efficient and sustainable transportation systems in a thriving urban environment. Reporting to the Director of Engineering and Transportation this professional role is responsible for improving traffic operations overseeing signal timing and signage and leading data-driven projects that enhance pedestrian and vehicular mobility throughout the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and improve traffic flow pedestrian safety parking systems and signal operations.
- Lead data collection efforts and transform findings into actionable recommendations.
- Oversee signage and pavement marking inventories using GIS.
- Evaluate traffic calming and safety improvement strategies for neighborhoods and developments.
- Present engineering reports and recommendations to the Transportation Board and community stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Town boards developers and the public on transportation-related projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- 5 years experience in municipal or transportation engineering.
- Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) and eligibility for PE license.
- Strong knowledge of traffic engineering principles signal systems and relevant state/federal standards.
- Experience with traffic modeling and GIS tools a plus.
- Valid drivers license required.
