Job Description:

A Postdoctoral Researcher position is available in the Bowers lab at the University of Florida Department of Chemistry and National High Magnetic Field Lab Gainesville. This position available immediately is funded by the Institute for Cooperative Upcycling of Plastics (iCOUP) an Energy Frontier Research Center (EFRC) led by the U.S. Department of Energy.

The project focuses on the application of parahydrogen-enhanced nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy as a unique mechanistic probe of polyolefin hydrogenolysis catalysis and related reactions. The research will employ advanced heterogeneous catalyst formulations synthesized in labs within the iCOUP team designed for high-performance deconstruction of aliphatic hydrocarbon polymers. The experimental studies will be guided by collaboration with computational groups within iCOUP. The Postdoctoral Researcher will be responsible for conducting laboratory experiments carrying out research activities analyzing data and potentially teaching courses related to their field of expertise.

Expected Salary:

Required Qualifications:

Must have PhD in Chemistry Chemical Engineering Physics or a related field. This position will be initially awarded for one year and contingent upon strong performance and conduct and availability of funds may be renewed for up to three years.

Preferred:
  • Experience in hyperpolarized NMR solid-state NMR or catalysis science is desirable.
  • Laboratory Skills and Research Experience
  • Data Analysis skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
  • Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g. Physics Chemistry Chemical Engineering)
  • Experience with scientific publications and presentations
