KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Thorough knowledge of driver safety; thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching; thorough knowledge of school division rules regulations and procedures; ability to establish and maintain proper standards of behavior; ability to deliver articulate oral instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff students and parents.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Candidate must be a graduate of an accredited college or university and possess or be eligible to acquire appropriate license(s) and/or endorsement(s) for position as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia and School Board. Candidate must possess at least four (4) years of driving experience. Must complete Department of Education approved training as follows:
- Basic Driver Education - 48 clock hours (including multimedia instruction and evaluation);
- Methods of Teachers - 48 clock hours (including in-car instruction). Additional hours will be required if the aide is to teach multiple-car range or simulation;
- Inservice biennially.
(Note: Special exception exists for those grandfathered by the Virginia Department of Education)
