Job Summary:
Performs Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) imaging examinations to produce detailed images of the human body for medical diagnostic purposes.

This is a casual/PRN position. Casual/PRN employees work on an as needed basis to meet the needs of the business. Workdays/hours will often vary from week to week.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
1. Smart Growth
- Willingly chooses to learn and become proficient in other department job duties.
2. Partnership and Collaboration
- Willingly participates in the training and mentoring of students during their rotations and/or externships.
- Shares in maintaining supplies with Central Supply to ensure adequate inventory level by stocking exam rooms with items needed for procedures and patient care. Inform Central Supply for needed supplies.
- Performs other duties as assigned i.e. taking call covering extra shifts covering for holidays adjusting schedules as needed.
3. Heightened Focus on Efficiency
- Rotates on-call with other technologists (if applicable). Follows all procedures and guidelines of the department as required. Uses and understands the processes and procedures for transmitting images to Teleradiology Services.
- Routinely communicates with Supervisor on matters that include disruption of normal work flow personnel issues and patient concerns or complaints. Understands promotes and supports the department scheduling and accessibility goals as it relates to patients and referring physicians.
- Uses Cerner/logbook to correctly document appropriate exam indications correct start/end times and identification of second technologist which ensures accurate departmental statistics according to hospital policies.
- Displays teamwork by providing help where it is needed and assists with the management of the department work flow to ensure the timely completion of exams.
- Consistently and correctly clocks in and out. Willing participant in staff reduction hours due to low patient volume.
- Completes examinations in a timely manner but with continued quality and continuity of patient care.
4. Quality and Safety
- Willingly participates in the training of new employees and continues to assist employees who have recently been trained.
- Ability to apply clinical imaging protocols and positioning techniques including administering appropriate oral and IV contrast specific to the age of the patient.
- Performs quality exams by utilizing appropriate adult and/or pediatric protocols for scanning by reviewing each exam for technical accuracy by administering appropriate oral and IV contrast by using proper sterile technique and by relaying pertinent information to the appropriate supervisor or radiologist.
- Routinely educates and screens all ancillary staff and visitors regarding the magnet environment or radiation safety and applies appropriate policy and procedure.
- Cleans and maintains all equipment as per hospital standards. Reporting faulty equipment to appropriate personnel.
5. People
- Provides appropriate care specific to the age of the patient to ensure understanding and a comfort level of treatment as outlined in the Age Specific Criteria.

- Routinely screens the patient for safety precautions educates them on the exam to be performed and documents in RIS.

6. Participate in rotating schedules of call and/or back-up call for either Computed Tomography (CT) & Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).

Job Requirements
Education
- Graduate from an approved American Medical Association (AMA) school of Radiologic Technology required.
- Participates in mandatory in-services and continuing education as mandated by policies & procedures/ external agencies & as directed by supervisors.
Experience
- One year experience in Computed Tomography (CT) Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) or a graduate from an approved Computed Tomography (CT)/Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) program.
License/Certifications
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registered in Radiography (R) required.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registered in both Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) required within 12 months of hire.
- Current Radiologic Technologist License (RAD-NE) or Permit to Practice (RAD-IA) for work state required.
- Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire required within 3 months of hire.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with hospital personnel patients co-workers and the public.
- Ability to perform numerous tasks at once.
- Proficient with working with patients of all ages (infants pediatrics adolescents adult and elderly.)
- Knowledge of other modalities or willing to gain knowledge of other modalities as requested for the potential of cross-training opportunities.
- Possess a working knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
- Ability to perform all routine and complex Computed Tomography (CT) & Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) procedures in which training was received.
- Ability to create 3D images on the scanner or an independent workstation.
- Ability to perform venipuncture for injections via butterfly needle and IV management for power injector use.
- Participate in rotating schedules of call and/or back-up call for either Computed Tomography (CT) & Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
