Job Title: ESL Campus Interventionist

Position Summary:
The ESL Campus interventionist under the supervision of the campus director coordinates and ensures the implementation of the ESL Program as designed by the ESL Department and detailed by Brand Leadership.
Primary Purpose:
To provide direct instructional support for EBs and immigrant children and youth based on identified linguistic and academic needs in an effort to improve learning gains and assist students in achieving in schools in the United States.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification/Experience:
- Bachelors Degree from accredited institution
- Texas Teacher Certification (required)
- Valid Texas ESL certification (required)
- Experience in ESL classroom setting (preferred)
- Experience working with Newcomers and/or Immigrant children and youth (preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of curriculum and state standards (TEKS)
- Knowledge of best practices and interventions in the area of Reading such as Leveled Literacy Instruction (LLI) implementation of Guided Reading as an essential component of the Balanced Literacy Block
- Intervention Strong foundational knowledge of the state English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS)
- Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to interpret policy procedures and data
- Ability to coordinate plan and implement state/district initiatives
- Create positive collegial relationships with teachers and administrator
- Communicate and demonstrate research-based instructional practices that result in increased student performance
- Demonstrate knowledge and monitor the implementation of Proficiency Level Descriptors (PLDs) and ELL progress measures.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Demonstrate knowledge of current research-based instructional practices and strategies for ESL Instruction.
- Demonstrate knowledge of current research-based instructional practices and strategies for teaching Newcomers and immigrant children and youth.
- Provide instructional services that are designed to assist immigrant students at secondary and elementary levels achieve in schools in the United States.
- Work with ELLs and immigrant students as assigned to support intensive language and learning needs.
- Collaborate with district and campus staff to provide tutorials mentoring and academic and career counseling to immigrant students.
- Analyze student data to provide support in the implementation and monitoring of ESL interventions and monitor ELL progress measures for students.
- Work collaboratively with Elementary and Secondary ELL Content Specialists and ESL Coordinators at the Elementary Middle and High School levels to plan and provide targeted intervention to ELLs and immigrant students.
- Collaborate with district and campus level staff to provide support for personnel who work with immigrant students.
- Work collaboratively with Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) teachers and campus and district administrators toward meeting identified district and campus improvement goals. 10. Develop and maintain a confidential collegial relationship with all personnel.
- Work cooperatively with the ELL Department Director and ELL Department staff to support the goals and commitments of the ELL Department for teachers and students.
- Facilitate the development of district common assessments that facilitate the TELPAS process.
- Facilitate the development and implementation of appropriate interventions.
- Facilitate appropriate instructional resource selection process.
- Attend Bilingual/ESL department meetings and trainings as scheduled.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Ability to think clearly in stressful situations and a high stress tolerance required high physical stamina necessary and extended amount of walking necessary. Travel between campus assignments; occasional district wide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours. Use of computers and related equipment. Occasional lifting up to 35 pounds.
