$115781.00 - $144726.00The BHI is a ground-breaking interdisciplinary research program aimed at accelerating prevention detection treatment and care of brain-heart disorders. The BHI program is led by the University of Ottawa University of Ottawa Heart Institute (UOHI) and Brain and Mind Research Institute (uOBMRI) in collaboration with partner organizations in Canada and internationally.Position Purpose
Reporting to the Senior Director the Senior Manager Transformation and Impact provides leadership to transform how research is conducted across BHI and participating research institutions leading to more relevant and impactful research and its use. Working in collaboration with the BHI leadership team the Senior Manager Transformation and Impact oversees integration of core principles such as equity diversity and inclusion open science and integrated knowledge translation into BHI research across scientific disciplines faculties and institutions supporting creation of a new transdisciplinary approach to brain-heart research and establishing BHI as a global leader. The Associate Director is also responsible for developing and implementing a scientific approach to measuring the impact of BHI through evaluations implementation research and other approaches.
In this role your responsibilities will include:
Provide guidance and leadership for the development and implementation of action plans tailored to the seven BHI cross-cutting themes (e.g. EDI Indigenous engagement commercialization) and the BHI implementation plan that synthesizes and integrates the action plans into a cohesive vision and operationalization approach.
Oversee the identification of core knowledge areas for each cross-cutting theme and the identification and/or development of core curricula and tools and lead the development of an effective platform or approach for communicating sharing and promoting resources for trainees early career and established researchers within and beyond the BHI.
Lead the conceptualization and development of a BHI Theory of Change illustrating how research excellence and impact will be transformed through the BHI and the strategy to measure BHI performance and impact.
Direct the development and implementation of a research protocol(s) to study the transformative change aspects of the BHI platform in real time and the paradigm shift in what and how research is conducted and applied. Ensures knowledge generated is disseminated through scientific publications and other appropriate knowledge mobilization strategies.
As a member of the BHI leadership team provide advice and recommendations to executives staff and governance committees on strategic research initiatives knowledge mobilization projects or approaches programs and policy to enhance BHI research activities and ensure delivery of BHI objectives and maximum impact.
Act as a champion for research excellence and the integration of the BHI cross-cutting themes across the BHI network and participating institutions and with existing and potential partners.
Ensure uOttawa is meeting or exceeding expectations of funding agencies and partners with respect to equity diversity and inclusion open science knowledge mobilization and impact.
Represent uOttawa and BHI at external meetings and events as requested by the BHI Directors or VPRI.
What you will bring:
Advanced degree preferably PhD or Master in life sciences health professions management or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Significant experience (at least 10 years) of progressively senior positions within a multidisciplinary research environment.
Significant experience and knowledge of ensuring and demonstrating research impact through knowledge transfer science policy economic benefits of research social innovation and commercialization.
Substantial knowledge and experience in the development of strategic and business plans planning documents and advising senior leadership.
Ability to take a broad long-range approach to problem-solving and decision-making that involves objective analysis thinking ahead and planning.
Proven ability to achieve objectives within an evolving complex policy and procedural framework; ability to adapt to changing priorities multitask and meet deadlines.
Excellent analytical and information synthesis skills with a demonstrated ability to evaluate and address complex issues in a clear and thoughtful manner.
Demonstrated experience developing relationships and working effectively within a multi-stakeholder environment as well as with external funding agencies corporations foundations and research partners.
Superior writing interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to converse with write reports for and deliver presentations to all levels of the organization including senior leadership.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to provide vision motivation and guidance. Ability to coach employees to meet high-performance standards and develop new skills for individual growth.

The rating is determined by a proficiency test designed by the Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute.
