General Qualifications
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with Administrative Endorsement preferred
- Bachelors Degree in Human Resources Business Administration or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the bachelors degree requirement
- Minimum four years successful experience in Human Resource management position
- Supervisory
- Demonstrated excellent administrative presentational and communication skills both orally and in writing
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure
- Such alternatives or additional qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate
Essential Job Responsibilites
- Assist with day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department
- Identify staffing and recruiting needs; develop and execute best practices for hiring and talent management
- Develop and/or update job descriptions
- Develop and implement a hiring team program to include administrators and staff
- Recruit interview and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for vacancies
- Provide leadership and implement systems to ensure that all legal pre- and post-employment requirements are met i.e. proper licensure physical exams background checks (including Illinois State Police checks of current employees) work history information and prior employment experience
- Provide leadership to ensure proper placement on the employees respective Collective Bargaining Units salary schedule
- Oversee the onboarding process for new hires
- Lead the development and implementation of new hire orientations
- Handle day-to-day employment-related inquiries from applicants employees and referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the Director of Human Resource
- Maintain compliance with federal state and local employment laws and regulations as well a recommended best practices; review Board of Education polices and Collective Bargaining Agreements to maintain compliance
- Maintain knowledge of trends best practices regulatory changes and new technologies in human resources talent management and employment law
- Forecast and track potential retirements and subsequent staffing needs
- Collaborate with central office administration and building principals regarding personnel needs
- Design implement and manage secure confidential maintenance of personnel records per Board of Education policy and state and federal law
- Manage substitute teacher system and annually evaluate the merits of the program and possible implementation of program improvements
- Oversee the recruitment of substitutes and the daily assignment thereof
- Oversee annual audits of personnel files including substitute files
- Collaborate with central office administrators and building principals and universities to coordinate pre-service experiences for teacher candidates; oversee pre-service teacher assignments and experiences
- Assist the Board of Education with its commitment to non-discrimination in its employment practices
- Assume such other duties as are delegated by the Superintendent
Terms of Employment
- 237 days; Salary and benefits to be determined by the Board of Education
