Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Instructional Aide I-Reg Preschool will assist the teacher in maintaining appropriate classroom activities and environment in order that students may learn effectively.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Essential functions as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act may include any of the following representative duties knowledge and skills. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and duties performed by incumbents of this class. Employees are required to be in attendance and prepared to begin work at their assigned work location on the specified days and hours. Factors such as regular attendance at the job are not routinely listed in job descriptions but are an essential function. Essential duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of

material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.

  1. Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based

on a sympathetic understanding of individual students their needs interests and abilities.

  1. Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.

  1. Distributes and collects workbooks papers and other materials for instruction.

  1. Guides independent study enrichment work and remedial work set up and assigned by

the teacher.

  1. Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills assemblies play

periods lunch periods and field trips.

  1. Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information

about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.

  1. Participates in in-service training programs as assigned.

  1. Alerts the regular teacher to any problem or special information about an individual

student.

  1. Serves as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in

the absence of the regular teacher.

  1. Assists with lunch snack and cleanup routines.

  1. Performs clerical tasks.

  1. Performs other related duties as required by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diplomaorGED required.

  1. Sixty (60) college creditsora passing score on the ParaPro Assessment exam required.

  1. Previous experience working with students preferred.

  1. Ability to work harmoniously with staff and students.

REPORTS TO:

Principal

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Work year salary and benefits as established by the Board.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job shall be evaluated by the building principal in accordance with

provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of classified personnel.
