Job Purpose Statement:
The School Culture and Climate TOSA is a licensed teaching position that works collaboratively with school personnel in implementing training and adapting restorative practices school wide to serve student behavioral needs. This position will be responsible for coaching and supporting school staff in the implementation of Tier 1 interventions and restorative practices; creating systems of support around restorative practices working with students and families collaborating with the MTSS and other relevant teams; and collaborating with other Culture and Climate TOSAs to improve practice and develop districtwide systems. The TOSAs will also be a part of a Restorative Practices Implementation Team designed to support the districts implementation of restorative practices in order to achieve the Districts Restorative Practice goals which include providing support services and resources to help remove barriers to learning expedite restorative practices for students and ultimately improve student attendance experience and learning.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop restorative circles guides and curricula that aligns with the MTSS model and identified needs of the school.
- Support school staff with the planning process for restorative circles facilitate or co-facilitate circles as requested and follow up with involved parties to discuss outcomes. This might include running a classroom so the involved teacher can participate in restorative practice with their student/s.
- Collaborate facilitate and attend meetings with administrators teachers staff related service providers families and others to establish goals coordinate and provide services; and educate and train staff on related topics including restorative practices and trauma informed strategies.
- Establish consistent practices and guidelines for school-based restorative practices and align these practices and guidelines with the other schools through their School Culture and Climate TOSAs.
- Create and share community building restorative activities to build capacity with restorative practices within each school.
- Identify gather and share training opportunities and other resources that support the expansion of restorative practices in the school/district.
- Collect data and assist teams with using data to make decisions around climate and culture.
- Collaborate with other School Culture and Climate TOSAs to problem solve improve practice align systems of support across schools and share learnings district-wide.
- Perform other duties related to climate behavior and restorative practices as assigned.
Qualifications Skills Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:
- Valid Oregon teaching license
- Minimum of five years teaching experience.
- Deep knowledge of district initiatives to support alignment especially in regards to Student Investment Account (SIA) and Integrated Guidance.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of schools teachers and students.
- Ability to develop relationships with others by listening understanding and reserving judgment.
- Effective communication collaboration and interpersonal skills that carry out a common focus.
- Successful experience and expertise in restorative practices and promoting positive school climate.
- Knowledge of interventions strategies and programs to support the behavior of all students.
- Experience with student de-escalation strategies conflict resolution and restorative practices; peer coaching and group facilitation.
- Experience and expertise coaching adult learners; familiarity with behavior frameworks and analysis.
- Knowledge of best practices relating to restorative justice and positive school climate
- Ability to collect and analyze student academic and behavior data for the purpose of strategic planning related to proactive and responsive restorative practices implementation
- Ability to assist in establishing and maintaining an effective learning climate in the school.
- Ability to keep and maintain accurate records and to meet deadlines.
- Ability to manage time efficiently to adapt to changing priorities and meet all intended goals and targets.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision to problem solve and find solutions both independently and as an effective member of a work team
- Strong commitment to helping build community and repair relationships
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervision is not normally a responsibility of this position.

- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
