Posted: June 20 2025 Closed: July 7 2025 Employment Opportunity: Sherwood Middle School (Grades 5-6)POSITION: School Adjustment Counselor/Social WorkerShrewsbury Public Schools is currently accepting applications for a School Adjustment Counselor/Social Worker for Sherwood Middle School a Middle School serving grades School Adjustment Counselor/Social Worker is responsible for helping students overcome academic and social/emotional challenges by providing individualized support. This role involves identifying and assessing students needs referring them to community resources offering direct counseling services (both one-on-one and in small groups) crisis management and managing cases for students on their is a full-time benefits-eligible position with salary consistent with the Shrewsbury Education Association are interested in candidates who are invested in the achievement equity and access of all learners in and beyond the classroom. Candidates with diverse racial ethnic cultural religious class and/or gender background and experiences are strongly encouraged to Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Provide social/emotional support to students through a multi-tiered system of support to provide evidence-based interventions via direct counseling services for students identified through Student Well-Being Teams Early Intervening Teams Individualized Education Plans (IEP) or 504 in data collection via progress monitoring social-emotional and behavioral health to teach social-emotional learning curriculum via whole classroom instruction as as a liaison between classroom teachers counselors administration outside agencies families and and coordinates with administrators and staff to develop and modify individualized behavior programming as student support on self-awareness self-management social awareness relationship skills and responsible effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team. This includes but is not limited to Teachers Administration district BCBAs School Psychologists Director of Middle Level Special Education Director of Counseling and Mental Health Services and Consulting on various building-based teams including Student Well-Being Team and Crisis out and implements evidence-based counseling techniques to deliver short-term counseling interventions to resolve immediate conflicts/problems; intervene in student-specific situations that disrupt learning for re-entry to the classroom re-entry from hospitalization due to social/emotional difficulties medically fragile (i.e. concussion) long-term medical communication with families about student performance and responds support to school personnel regarding student engagement cultural diversity and the delivery of educational support to students who have multiple risk to self-reflect engage in consultation and apply ideas for improving practice from supervisors colleagues and professional developmental activities to gain for providing outreach and follow-up for students including home visits as needed due to attendance problems/ duties as assigned by building administration or :Actively demonstrates the values of Shrewsbury Public Schools: respect for others responsibility collaboration communication commitment to high standards and expectations and licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a School Social Worker/Adjustment Counselor All licensure from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a LCSW LICSW or obtained a Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling or Social of mastery of clinical skills including ability to implement evidence-based interventions for group work individual counseling case management and crisis flexibly in the changing school and Environmental Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
