Job Description

Job Description: Live-In Maternity Nurse / Postpartum Support Specialist

Location: Hilversum Netherlands
Duration: Approx. 3 months (with possible extension)
Schedule: 24/7 availability with 4 5 hours protected break per day
Job Description:

We are seeking a warm experienced and highly professional live-in maternity nurse to support our family during the first months after the birth of our baby. This role focuses on providing full-time care for the newborn supporting the mother s recovery and ensuring a calm and consistent environment.

The ideal candidate will also offer light support to our 4-year-old child when needed and occasionally assist with transport to baby appointments (e.g. doctor visits). We highly value continuity emotional stability and a low-stimulation environment and have a strong preference for Dutch-speaking candidates.
Duties & Responsibilities

Provide 24/7 newborn care with a protected daily break (4 5 hours)

Night care: fully responsible for the baby overnight including feeding soothing changing nappies and ensuring safe sleep (the parents are not involved during night-time hours)

Support bottle feeding exclusively (no breastfeeding support required)

Establish a calm structured routine for feeding and sleep

Perform nursery-related tasks (e.g. sterilizing bottles laundry restocking supplies)

Provide occasional support to the mother as needed for emotional and practical recovery

Offer light flexible support for a 4-year-old (e.g. play routine transitions)

Accompany or drive to baby s appointments when necessary (driver s license preferred)

Communicate clearly with parents regarding baby s progress and care needs

Maintain a calm discreet presence in the household

Requirements & Expectations

5 years experience in newborn/postpartum care or private maternity nursing

Maternity Nurse or Newborn Care Specialist certification (preferred)

Up-to-date pediatric first aid and CPR

Fluent in English; Dutch-speaking preferred

Must be comfortable working independently at night

Prior experience supporting emotional/mental health recovery in postpartum (a plus)

Valid driver s license preferred

Professional calm and discreet at all times; respectful of family dynamics and boundaries


Ideal Candidate Profile

Our ideal maternity nurse is gentle calm and deeply nurturing someone who brings warmth structure and quiet confidence to our home during this sensitive and important time. We are looking for a person who not only has strong professional experience with newborns but also offers emotional intelligence kindness and a thoughtful approach to postpartum recovery.


Experience & Qualifications

At least 5 years of hands-on experience caring for newborns in private households or maternity nurse roles

Experience with postpartum mothers especially in emotionally complex or mental health-sensitive situations (preferred)

Confident managing all aspects of newborn care independently including nighttime care without parental support

Familiarity with bottle feeding soothing techniques and establishing healthy sleep/feed routines

Certification in Maternity Nursing Newborn Care Specialist (NCS) or equivalent

Pediatric First Aid and CPR certified

Comfortable supporting families with more than one child (light help with a 4-year-old)

Personality & Soft Skills

Emotionally intuitive and compassionate able to read the energy in the home and respond gently

Calm under pressure; not easily flustered by crying sleeplessness or emotional ups and downs

Discreet and professional understands boundaries and respects privacy

Clear communicator confident working independently but comfortable keeping parents informed

Flexible and adaptable in a family setting

Open to or experienced with Ayurvedic or Asian-inspired postpartum traditions such as warm foods gentle touch and restorative rhythms

Preferred Extras (Nice to Have):

Speaks both English and Dutch

Valid driver s license (for occasional baby-related appointments)

Cooks simple nourishing postpartum meals for the mother and ideally for the whole family

Offers maternal massage or gentle bodywork for recovery

Experience with or interest in belly binding or supportive postpartum wrapping

Enjoys music or singing softly to baby

Interest in baby massage early development or baby-led routines

A calm presence around children; possibly a background in yoga mindfulness or similar wellness practices

It is a three floor suburban home with a large garden the maternity nurse / nanny will have a room on the first floor with the baby the bathroom is on the same floor and will be shared. The house has two bathrooms.




Requirements

Completely fluent English speaker and preferably Dutch too

Flexible Warm and Kind Demeanour: A caring nurturing approach is essential for this role.

Verifiable references for recent maternity nurse experience.

EU Passport: Required.

Daily Driving: A valid driver s license preferred

Start Date: 8th December 2025 until 8th March 2026

Working Hours: 24h with a (4-5h) break for sleep

Up-to-Date criminal background check

Up to date Paediatric First Aid Certificate

Right to Work in the EU: Eu passport

-Must be fit and healthy able to lift and carry growing baby with ease

Commitment: 3 months with some flexibility to suit the Maternity Nurse

Strictly Non-Smoking & non-vaping position



Up to date, enhanced criminal background check will be required prior to starting the job. Up to date paediatric first aid required
