The Major Gift Officer is responsible for meeting goals and contributing to the overall growth of the advancement department by securing funds for Georgetown College that advance the Colleges strategic plan. Cultivate and manage relationships focusing on providing donors with giving opportunities and encouraging them to make major gifts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:
Serves as an advocate and resource for Georgetown College by working with donors to help give their philanthropy purpose at the College
Responsible for all aspects of the donor development cycle including identification qualification cultivation solicitation and stewardship
Manages a portfolio of 120 prospective donors to develop long-term philanthropic partners
Works collaboratively with members of the College leadership including the office of the president executive cabinet associate deans vice presidents and faculty as well as with colleagues within advancement and alumni relations to develop and implement engagement solicitation and stewardship strategies
Travels frequently within Kentucky for donor meetings weekly and regional travel several times a year for alumni/donor events
Represent the College and be available to discuss any facet of the College with alumni parents donors friends of the College and the community
Serves as an active part of the Advancement team supporting alumni relations and annual fund efforts such as GC Giving Day Homecoming Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame and major campus events
Actively analyze donor data to ensure goals for major gifts are met by growing and maintaining a major gift program focused on gifts of $10000
Track and report progress in the database of direct face-to-face solicitations calls and donor activity
Work with the VP for Advancement to manage a budget and accomplish departmental goals

Education and/or Experience - Bachelors or masters degree from a college or university; or five years related experience in advancement alumni or donor engagement or equivalent combination of education and experience
Communications / Language - Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers clients customers and the general public. Public speaking skills are a necessity as well as excellent interpersonal skills
Mathematical - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interest commissions proportions percentages area circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
Reasoning - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Certificates Licenses Registrations - Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record
Computer Literacy / General Office Equipment - Intermediate computer literacy with experience in fundraising software like Slate is necessary. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word Excel Outlook
