EXPERIENCE KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITY (KSA)

Novice //Basic understanding and minimal practical experience; requires guidance and supervision. No experience is required internship experience and EIT preferred.

  • Knowledgeof standard engineering and scientific techniques procedures and criteria in carrying out tasks.
  • Skillsincluding use of industry-standard computer software for the position(i.e. software such as CADD HCS AutoCAD MicroStation GIS and Hydrologic/Hydraulic models).
  • Abilityto use spreadsheets word processing and standard office software.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Design Analysis //
    1. Complete simple application of design and analysis using determined software and criteria under the direction of a Professional Engineer.
    2. Exercise limited judgment on details of work including preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
  2. Compliance Quality //
    1. Utilize Company resources to begin understanding QA/QC processes and procedures.
  3. Communication Collaboration //
    1. Work with supervisor project manager mentors and various internal personnel to complete assignments within discipline.
  4. Training Learning Advancement //
    1. Utilize formal education including fundamentals of engineering and apply it in assignments.
  5. Client Internal Satisfaction //
    1. Work with internal clients daily and escalate concerns when needed.
  6. Technical //
    1. Apply technical expertise and be able to work with a project team on conventional and unconventional projects
    2. Perform independent research and adapt to changing priorities
    3. Work in a collaborative team environment and perform self QA/QC of work
    4. Adhere to CobbFendleys safety standards to uphold a safe and efficient environment
    5. Maintain a professional attitude and fulfill responsibilities with integrity
    6. Support CobbFendley Project Managers and Engineers with engineering design or coordination tasks for various projects
    7. Learn and maintain knowledge of client standards rules and requirements for planning construction and documentation
    8. Learn and understand equipment and material components of broadband networks to include both OSP ISP and Wireless
    9. Learn to read and interpret plans for various project types
    10. Learn and understand Utility Coordination and Utility Construction Engineering and Inspection (UCEI)
    11. Experience with traffic engineering principles and roadway design standards
    12. Familiarity with AASHTO and local DOT standards

PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

Most work is performed in a professional office environment. Some trips to client offices and outdoor environments for observations will be required.

  • Seated and Standing Position.Extended periods of sitting and standing in an upright position at a workstation.
  • Mobility.Movement within the office and job sites including navigating between floors workstations and outdoor environments with potential for uneven surfaces.
  • Neck Movement.Forward flexion extension or lateral rotation of the head and neck while using multiple computer screens.
  • Repetitive Motion.Repetitive finger movements for operating a computer mouse and typing on a keyboard.
  • Arm Movement.Extending hands and arms in various directions such as overhead below the waist forward or laterally.
  • Object Handling.Raising or lowering objects from one level to another and transporting objects by holding them in the hands arms or over the shoulder.
  • Cognitive Requirements.Selective attention oral comprehension oral expression speech recognition speech clarity written comprehension written expression problem sensitivity deductive reasoning inductive reasoning number facility information ordering category flexibility flexibility of closure fluency of ideas and originality.
  • Office Conditions.Includes extensive use of electronic devices such as computers printers copiers scanners plotters and telephones. Additionally tasks may involve the use of cutting tools and equipment like rotary paper cutters and plotting devices.
  • Outdoor Conditions.Includes walking and climbing on uneven surfaces confined spaces and exposure to extreme weather conditions (heat and freezing temperatures). Potential exposure to high noise levels and various allergens including poison ivy sumac dust pollen and cedar. Potential exposure to wildlife hazards such as animals insects and plants.
  • Safety and Equipment Use.Regular use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required along with use of hand and power tools.
  • Driving and Vehicle Use.May involve driving large pick-up trucks with attached trailers potentially operating watercraft and for extended periods of time.

EXPECTED WORK HOURS

  • This is a full-time position generally 40 hours per week however hours may fluctuate depending on department needs including the use of overtime.
  • CobbFendleys standard operating hours are Monday through Friday 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM CST. Generally employees receive a 1-hour unpaid lunch break free of duty. Please note operating hours and lunch hours may differ based on project workload primarily for field staff.

WORK LOCATION FLEXIBILTY

  • This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule once the training period is complete as established by the department.
