Job Description

Preference will be given to qualified regular part-time employees within the Part Time Support Staff bargaining unit at Sheridan College. Should a suitable candidate not be found external candidates will be considered.

Reporting to the Manager Student Recruitment the Student Recruitment Adviser Outreach & Events is responsible for promoting Sheridan College to prospective students and key influencers through dynamic community-based outreach. Acting as a front-line ambassador the incumbent engages with high schools community organizations and the public across the GTA and surrounding regions delivering presentations and representing Sheridan at events that drive awareness applications and enrolment.

This position is focused on developing positive relationships with prospective learners and their support networks providing accurate program and admissions information and facilitating access to Sheridans academic offerings and student services. The incumbent will also support the planning and execution of off-campus recruitment initiatives and outreach strategies contributing to the broader goals of the Student Recruitment team. With a strong customer service mindset and ability to adapt to diverse audiences the Student Recruitment Adviser Outreach & Events helps position Sheridan as a college of choice within Ontarios postsecondary landscape.


What Youll Be Doing

  • Professionally representing Sheridan College at high school visits post-secondary fairs and community events across Ontario to improve brand awareness and reputation and increase prospective student reach;
  • Delivering compelling presentations panel discussions and personalized information sessions for prospective students parents and educators;
  • Working collaboratively with internal faculty and staff and act as a key liaison for external stakeholders such as guidance counsellors community groups and educators building strong working relationships that support recruitment outcomes;
  • Planning and executing off-campus recruitment initiatives including support and logistics coordination setup and materials preparation for events and activations of various scales;
  • Providing comprehensive advising services on all Sheridan programs admissions and support services across various mediums and audiences;
  • Inputting and maintaining data within Sheridans CRM system ensuring accurate consistent and timely engagement tracking;
  • Participating in follow-up and outreach campaigns including personalized communications and touchpoints to support lead nurturing and application conversion;
  • Collaborating with full-time Recruitment staff to assess outreach opportunities and contribute to territory planning and engagement strategies;
  • Occasionally supporting on-campus and online activity (e.g. open houses group visits tours webinars);
  • Participating in collection of event and materials feedback to evaluate ROI and identify opportunities;
  • Performing supporting administrative duties related to inventory and data management communications scheduling and reporting;
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will also meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum of an advanced diploma or degree in Business Event Management Marketing Communications Public Relations or related field or equivalent combination of education and related practical experience;
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in higher education student recruitment or experience with sales and/or marketing preferably in a post-secondary environment;
  • A valid G class drivers license and willingness/availability to travel in province occasionally for extended periods of time;
  • Demonstrated experience planning and executing small-to-large scale events including staffing complements and related organizational skills;
  • Exceptional interpersonal and public-speaking skills;
  • Refined written communication skills;
  • Ability to exercise discretion independent judgement and problem-solving skills to assess navigate and respond to situational needs;
  • Proficiency with Office 365 multimedia technology data collection and customer service management (CRM) software;
  • A thorough understanding of Ontarios education sector current issues trends and legislation.
