Job Description

TheNorthern Land Council (NLC) is seeking an experienced and motivated Internal Audit & Compliance Officer to join our Governance Compliance and Risk team. This is a great opportunity to contribute to good governance and compliance across a complex statutory organisation that serves Aboriginal people across the Top End of the Northern Territory.

About the Role

The Internal Audit & Compliance Officer plays a key role in delivering the NLCs Internal Audit and Compliance Frameworks contributing to a culture of good governance integrity and continuous improvement. Working as part of the Governance Compliance and Risk (GCR) Service Area. This role offers the chance to collaborate across the organisation liaise with a wide range of stakeholders and contribute to effective corporate governance that supports Traditional Owners and Aboriginal communities.

What you will bring:

We are looking for a candidate who brings strong governance compliance or risk experience along with excellent communication and organisational skills. Previous experience in supporting internal audit and compliance frameworks policies and procedures. You will have a working knowledge of internal compliance reviews (health checks) and assisting to prepare reports to support continuous improvement. Monitoring and reporting against key corporate deadlines including accurate dashboard reporting will allow you to thrive in this role

In addition to this you will have

  • A minimum Advanced Diploma of Governance Risk and Compliance (or equivalent experience).
  • At least 2 years experience in governance compliance quality assurance corporate policy or interpreting legislation.
  • Knowledge of legislative and policy frameworks relevant to Aboriginal Land Councils or the ability to acquire this quickly.
  • Knowledge of the Public Governance Performance and Accountability Act 2013 is highly desirable

  • Abase salary of $84985per annum plus15% superannuationandsalary sacrificingup to $15900 Meal Entertainment and Holiday Accommodation benefits up to $2650 per year.

    • District allowanceof up to $4631 per annum for individuals with dependents and $2539 without dependents.
    • 5weeks annual leave leaving loading 18 days personal leave;
    • Paid Christmasclose down;
    • Upon completion of 12 months of service anAnnual airfarewith a net (in hand) value of $2724
