SUMMARY:
The Security Analyst provides security and ensures that sensitive information is thoroughly protected. The Security Analyst will make recommendations to improve security systems and provide solutions to advance the Districts overall security. The Security Analyst will help the Senior Security Engineer identify flaws in the infrastructure and make decisions based on technical analysis. Protecting digital assets from unauthorized access and mitigating risks before a data breach occurs.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Technology Security Management
- Monitor computer networks for security issues.
- Investigate security breaches and other cybersecurity incidents.
- Install security measures and operate software to protect systems and information infrastructure including firewalls and data encryption programs.
- Document security breaches and assess the damage they cause.
- Work with the security team to perform tests and uncover network vulnerabilities.
- Fix detected vulnerabilities to maintain a high-security standard.
- Stay current on Information Technology (IT) security trends and news.
- Develop company-wide best practices for IT security.
- Perform penetration testing.
- Help colleagues install security software and understand information security management.
- Research security enhancements and make recommendations to management.
- Stay up to date on information technology trends and security standards.
Recordkeeping Reporting and Inventory
- Document security breaches and assess the damage they cause.
- Assist in writing manuals and document current network procedures.
- Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration mapping processes and service records.
- Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports.
- Document all issues activities and resolutions using consistent and clear language.
- Utilize knowledgebase and suggest documentation improvements.
Policy and Law
- Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor Executive Director or Chief Technology Officer for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of District network infrastructure services.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Pursue Professional Development activities for self and assigned staff; ensure that Professional Development activities are aligned with District goals and initiatives and current professional research.
- Comply with all policies operating procedures legal requirements and verbal and written directives.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelors Degree in IT or a related field of study with a network engineering focus (preferred)
Experience:
- Three (3) to Five (5) to years IT and networking experience
- Experience working with server technologies (preferred)
SPECIAL KNOWLEGDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Ability to identify and mitigate network vulnerabilities and explain how to avoid them.
- Understanding patch management with the ability to deploy patches in a timely manner while understanding business impact.
- Skills in problem-solving attention to detail prompt documentation and time management
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Ability to work in collaboration with staff that have varying technology skills as well as work independently when necessary
- Technical know-how of security network devices (switches antivirus firewalls cryptography SIEM) and any other security networking hardware or software tools
- Knowledge of Cisco network and cloud security services Palo Alto firewalls and strong routing & switching experience is an added advantage.
- Excellent hands-on experience and knowledge implementing configuring integrating and supporting cloud security with a variety of security system solutions including but not limited to firewalls web filters internet usage security and network monitors and endpoint antivirus protections.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to negotiate and resolve conflict.
