Location:Carlisle or Manchester (Hybrid 2 days office)

Were delighted to be partnered JDP seeking a new Health & Safety Specialist. JDP is Britains leading merchant-manufacturer supplying the UK Civils and Drainage industry. The business are true experts in sewerage and drainage for agricultural residential and civil engineering projects and also manufacturers of market leading products developed in partnership with their customers.
JDP are serious about putting Health & Safety first.They already have a strong H&S culture (supported and embedded right from the top) as well as good processes in place. This is a new opportunity to take them to the next level influencing and shaping how they move forward.
This is a standalone role where youllinfluence leaders coach operational teams and bring practical down-to-earth advicethat makes a real difference.
The role:
- Lead by example live & breathe our safety first approach and uphold high standards.
- Supporting local managers to embedStop Think Actprinciples
- Have accountability for risk assessments accident / incident investigations and the sharing of best practice initiatives with a learning-focused culture
- Identifying weak spots prioritising improvements and collaborating with the team to operationally deliver and roll-out
- Helping write or supporting with Standard Operating Procedures and providing advise where needed.
- Oversee ISO9001 auditing and Quality Assurance process.
- Working closely with our European H&S network to share ideas and stay sharp
About you:
Youre not here to tick boxes - youre here tomake things better.
Youre a self-starter with a practical mindset and the confidence to speak up when something doesnt look right. People trust your judgement because youcommunicate clearly engage naturally and know how to bring others with you - whether youre on a shop floor in a yard or talking to a senior manager.
You likely have aHealth & Safety qualification(or strong relevant experience) and ideally youve worked acrossmultiple sites- but what matters most is youroperational understandingand your ability to spot risk investigate thoroughly and push for improvements without alienating people.
Youll bring:
- Hands-on experience inaccident/incident investigations and root cause analysis
- A solid track record ofreviewing risk assessmentsand contributing to SOPs or training
- High attention to detail but also the pragmatism to get things done
- Experience in apractical operational environment(factories transport/logistics or branches)
- Ideally if you have some experience in HGV safety - even better!
