Job Description

Surgical Tech First Assist Surgery / OR Department

Job Type: PRN Variable Shift

Provides direct assistance to the surgeon(s) during surgical procedures.

Core competencies include but are not limited to the following:

  • Positions patient to give best exposure for surgical procedure using stabilizing equipment when necessary while maximizing patient comfort and safety.

  • Provides visualization of the operative site using appropriate method including manipulation of tissue and materials retraction sponging suctioning and irrigation.

  • Utilizes appropriate technique to achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis.

  • Assists with body plane closure application of wound dressings and securing of drainage systems.

Minimum EducationHigh School Diploma or equivalent is required
Required LicensesCurrent Certified First Assistant Certification
Certifications:The below certifications will be required at the time of hire:Basic Life Support (BLS)
