Job Description

Overview

Sterile Processing Coordinator

As our Sterile processing coordinator youat the CHI Woodlands Hospital now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiative and Dignity Health youll establishes and enforce standards of instrument processing activities sterilization of surgical supplies.

The Woodlands Hospital a primary and secondary care hospital serving North Harris and Montgomery counties. Clinical services include cardiovascular services diagnostic imaging womens services neurosciences pediatric care and surgery pathology and pulmonary services and sleep disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain an efficient system for processing of surgical instruments and restocking of surgical supplies
    through the development of department policies and procedures that ensure adequate and proper quantities of
    reprocessed supplies and equipment to meet patient care demands
  • Analyze daily surgery schedule and preference list to prioritize department workload and avoid potential shortages
    of instruments and sets
  • Manages the department quality control and quality improvement programs
  • Coordinates annual and ongoing education of staff identifies needed training and Develops appropriate plans to
    meet the needs
  • Provides monthly reports to the manager as required; Provides data for planning decisionmaking improving
    productivity and problem resolution including development of capital budget
  • Responsible for working with vendors and purchasing to obtain purchase orders when appropriate for repair or
    replacement of surgical instruments supplies and equipment; monitors status of purchase orders

Qualifications

Required education:

  • Associates Degree
  • GED equivalent and an additional 5 years of related
    experience can substitute for the Associates Degree
  • CRST or CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service
    Technician)

Required experience:

  • Three (3) years of CSPD experience or related instrument
    management
