Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) restraint certification First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training course completed at first available offering by District. If hired the employee must provide a negative TB test and apply for a fingerprint IVP card before the start of employment.

REPORTS TO:

Principal professional staff to whom assigned

JOB GOAL:

To assist professional staff members by performing a variety of tasks related to the operation of classrooms or other instructional areas.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist the teacher with planned activities and instructional programs.
  2. Record and file statistical data and reports.
  3. Assist in preparing instructional materials for daily instruction as planned by the teacher; set up and operates audiovisual equipment; type educational materials; ability to use and operate copy machines and computers.
  4. Assist the teacher in maintaining individual student records.
  5. Assist in supervising students at arrival and dismissal in the classroom and on the playground under the supervision of a district certified staff member.
  6. Presents subject matter to students utilizing variety of developmentally appropriate methods and techniques under the supervision of the preschool teacher.
  7. Assists students individually or in groups with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts.
  8. Assist students with self-care activities related to eating dressing toileting grooming as needed.
  9. Perform other job duties as assigned.
  10. Attends at least 18 clock hours of professional development training as required by Arizona Department of Health Services.
  11. Supports special education student in accordance with individualized education program.

  14. Safety and Security - Uses equipment and materials properly.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  1. Ability to read and comprehend instructions correspondence and memos.
  2. Ability to write correspondence.
  3. Ability to work with a variety of people and maintain confidentiality of information.

TECHNOLOGY SKILLS:

  1. To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of Internet and district software and Microsoft office (Word Excel Publisher PowerPoint and other appropriate technology software).
  2. Knowledge of appropriate business machines and telephones.
  3. Monitor special system(s) not limited to including security and fire alarm systems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  1. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  3. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. In addition some carrying pushing and/or pulling; some stooping kneeling crouching and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity.
  4. The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: requires sitting walking and standing.
  5. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. Ten-month employee pay and benefits in accordance with Board policy.
  2. FLSA: Non-Exempt
  3. Part Time Employee Benefits: in accordance with Board policy.

EVALUATION:

  1. Performance to be evaluated in accordance with the Board policy on evaluation of support personnel.
