DescriptionSt. Olaf College in Northfield MN seeks an Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies to serve as a member of the Colleges faculty in the Department of Environmental Studies.
- Center teaching and research in environmental geospatial analysis with emphasis on social sciences/humanities. Research and teaching must intersect with one or more of the following areas: environmental justice Indigeneity Black ecologies food sovereignty/security or environmental public health.
- Teach GIS and other courses in candidates area of interest (such as Mixed Methods for Environmental Analysis Remote Sensing Introduction to Environmental Studies Integration and Applications in Environmental Studies Making Use of Civic Engagement and Senior Capstone) and facility training with ArcGIS Pro.
- Develop research program amenable to participation by undergraduate students and have strong/demonstrated commitment to promoting equitable inclusion of students/colleagues of all backgrounds in all aspects of college life.
- Teach 5 courses per year. Teaching responsibilities include GIS/remote sensing courses at least one integrative core course within the environmental studies major (Introduction to Environmental Studies Integration and Applications in Environmental Studies Making Use of Civic Engagement and Senior Capstone) and developing one or more GIS-based or spatially oriented courses in area of specialization.
- Advise students serve on committee(s) and fulfill department and institutional obligations (attending faculty meetings).
Salary: $63980 - $74330/year
Required Qualifications
PhD in Geography Environmental Science or closely related discipline in geospatial analysis.
