About the Role
The Development Assistant Individual Giving position provides an opportunity to play an integral role in supporting the Brooklyn Museums frontline fundraising team and advancement efforts at a pivotal moment in the Museums history. Responsibilities: - Provide support to the Director of Individual Giving and Major Gifts including managing the calendar project management support and drafting correspondence briefings and memoranda.
- Provide support to the frontline fundraisers assisting with portfolio and donor management by entering data in Tessitura utilizing project management tools and Excel.
- Drafts acknowledgments and ensures that all gifts are recognized promptly by the appropriate person(s).
- Support the frontline fundraising teams fundraising efforts by assisting in the moves management process including: maintaining prospect lists ensuring fulfillment of benefits tracking fundraising timelines drafting templates entering data and keeping plans up-to-date in Tessitura
- Conduct donor research and prepare meeting briefs and proposals as needed
- Help manage and support donor cultivation and patron events including early-stage planning check-in and logistics and liaising with vendors
- Perform administrative tasks for the Individual Giving team including financial and human resources reporting
- Work on special projects and other tasks as assigned
Qualifications: A successful candidate will meet many of these requirements and have the desire and capacity to learn the rest on the job. - Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
- Two plus years of relevant experience in a development office or equivalent.(knowledge of and interest in visual arts and museum operations is preferred)
- Communicate with clarity and concision verbally and in writing
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and Tessitura CRM (a plus)
- Demonstrate professional and poised ease of engagement with colleagues donors and other stakeholders.
- Exercise mature judgment and discretion regarding confidential or sensitive information.
- Consistently maintain exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail in all communications especially when representing the Director of Individual Giving and Major Gifts the team other Development staff and the Brooklyn Museum.
- Maintain high motivation and agency to take ownership of assigned projects and tasks.
- Possess the ability to meet competing deadlines punctually while working independently and prioritizing thoughtfully.
- Approaches work with professionalism collegiality and equanimity.
