The Sleep Therapy Educator supports the practice of sleep medicine at Mayo Clinic by performing Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) follow up visits troubleshooting patient problems with PAP acting as a liaison between the patient and the homecare provider. Understand and interpret the data obtained from PAP appliances to ensure effective therapy. Perform patient education regarding sleep apnea and its therapy options. Perform set ups for unattended sleep studies and any other duties that are necessary for efficient delivery of quality healthcare to Mayo Clinic patients. The individual must demonstrate the knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the lifespan. The ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and appropriately interpret information relative to the patients age-specific needs is required.
Associate of Applied Science degree or equivalent in Sleep Medicine (Polysomnography) or Respiratory Therapy is required. Work experience in a patient contact health care area is desirable
Experience in sleep therapy and/or respiratory care is preferred.
RPSGT and/or CRT RRT. Basic Life Support Certification is required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from start date. Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) Competency. Current Arizona State Respiratory License if CRT/ (Certification in Clinical Sleep Health) required within three years of hire date-this is already part of the current job posting.
