- Provides information and general assistance to internal and external customers regarding HR programs and processes via in-person virtually email or other electronic means.
- Coordinates logistics of onboarding/orientation schedules and activities; orders and maintains supplies; and partners with Avista leaders during the onboarding/orientation processes to ensure new hires and managers are set up for success.
- Supports the recruiting team with administrative functions.
- Clearly communicates with employees regarding onboarding processes and timeframes.
- Maintains employee data and verifies receipt of required personnel documents; maintains files records reports and other documentation pertaining to onboarding activities.
- Assists with employee engagement and Learning & Development events and programs.
- Manages the new hire onboarding process for all external hires including partnership with leaders and stake holders to ensure success. Administers all new hire paperwork and is the main point on contact for all onboarding process and system questions. Facilitate badges and access for new employees.
- Conducts background checks/motor vehicle records checks for applicants and employees maintaining accurate and confidential records and following guidelines and regulations. Monitors renewal cycles to ensure timely re-checks as appropriate.
- Facilitates drug and alcohol testing for new hires in compliance with prescribed procedures and regulations. Works closely with the Designated Employee Representative (DER) HR managers and leadership when positives results occur.
- Gathers all DOT paperwork for applicants using multiple systems to ensure DOT requirements are met before hire.
- Collaborates with security to meet compliance objectives relative to North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards/ Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP). Responsible for all background check renewals needed for NERC/CIP compliance.
Requirements
HR Coordinator I
- Associates degree from a regionally or nationally accredited college or university in human resources management training communications or related field.
- 1 years of relevant experience supporting human resource programs.
- Hands-on experience with recruiting and onboarding software and Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) preferred.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent MS Office skills (Word Excel and PowerPoint).
- Effective and flexible written and verbal communication skills.
- Dedicated to the internal and external customer experience.
- Ability to effectively plan work activities schedules priorities and utilization of resources.
- Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Other combinations of experience and/or education may be considered.

HR Coordinator II
- Bachelors degree from a regionally or nationally accredited college or university in human resources management training communications or related field.
- 1 years of relevant experience supporting human resource programs.
- Experience with HRIS systems.
- Experience in employee onboarding preferred.
- Designated Employee Representative (DER) certification a plus. .
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent MS Office skills (Word Excel and PowerPoint).
- Effective and flexible written and verbal communication skills.
- Dedicated to the internal and external customer experience.
- Ability to effectively plan work activities schedules priorities and utilization of resources.
- Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Demonstrated ability in helping customers navigate through complex or sensitive issues keeping the customers best interests in mind.
