Job Description

Description

This position is responsible for supporting campus-wide users with information technology-related issues. Responsibilities include: installing servicing and maintaining all university-purchased computers as well as software applications utilized on university computers. This position is a member of a team that specializes in supporting IT-related items for employees classrooms and labs on campus. Additional responsibilities include working with fellow departmental staff members to diagnose hardware network and software problems on university computers.

Essential Job Duties

  • Maintain parts inventory and update database(s) with all computers and software utilized on campus;
  • Utilize imaging software and/or other methods to image computers for use across campus including labs/classrooms;
  • Provide initial set-up configuration and delivery of computers on campus;
  • Diagnose problems and perform repairs as needed;
  • Provide assistance in transferring data to/from and configurating employee computers;
  • Install/troubleshoot software and installation issues;
  • Maintain work documentation using currently-utilized help-desk system;
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
  • Assist other departmental staff as needed;
  • Diagnose issues and provide service to desktop printers;
  • Represent the department and university at a variety of on- or off-campus meetings conferences etc.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma/equivalent is required;
  • Associates degree and/or Bachelors degree is preferred;
  • College coursework in computer repair or related field OR certifications (listed below) required;
  • A minimum of six months of work-related experience is required.

LICENSES CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS:
A Certification Microsoft Certifications and/or Apple Certifications preferred.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of or the ability to quickly obtain such of existing computer models;
  • Ability to replace parts including but not limited to motherboards hard drives memory and video cards;
  • Ability to utilize imaging software and/or other appropriate methods to image/re-image computers;
  • Ability to troubleshoot computer/network problems;
  • Ability to use the internet discriminatingly to research problems and find appropriate solutions;
  • Ability to operate a work order system Microsoft OS Apple OS and associated apps;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • Strong interpersonal organizational and customer service skills;
  • Ability to coordinate well with other departments and fellow employees and provide assistance to others;
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written verbal and diagram form;
  • Ability to adapt and upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions;
  • Strong problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work within time constraints and to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and written;
  • Ability to communicate effectively to instruct or train others through explanation and/or demonstration;
  • Ability to interpret documents and manage interpersonal conflict situations requiring tact diplomacy and discretion;
  • Ability to interact effectively with diverse array of students faculty staff administrators fellow co-workers and the public;
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions inquiries and /or complaints
  • Ability to work overtime hours as requested during nights and/or weekends.
