Position Number:126870 & 124760Position Title (Classification Title):Student Program Support Specialist (126870 & 124760)Working Title:Admissions AssistantJob Summary:The Admissions Assistant will provide information to potential undergraduate and graduate nursing students seeking admission to the specialized access nursing programs with the School of Nursing ensuring that students receive correct and timely information about the degree programs and help confirm requirements before applying. Assist in preparing tracking and processing all applications for all nursing programs for review and communicate to students (includes letters of acceptance confirmations and denials). Responsibilities also include admissions readmissions pre-orientation orientation data management maintenance and management of student files student follow-up reporting and departmental tours. Assist with student success efforts and initiatives for the application process. Responsible for tracking student progression in the RN-BSN and MSN programs. Also participates in all School of Nursing events/ceremonies held throughout the year.DepartmentNursingFLSA:ExemptMinimum Qualifications:A bachelors degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of appropriate experience; or a high school diploma and five years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Position Qualifications:Knowledge of effective communication techniques for writing verbal presentation and listening. Knowledge in handling confidential matters record keeping and management. Knowledge of department college and university policy and procedures.Preferred QualificationsExperience working with college students technology literacy strong communication skills (listening verbal and written) ability to work with a team strong organizational skills and a self-starter. 5 years of experience in administrative and data entry. Knowledge of course offerings facilities catalog application process dates and deadlines.Essential Functions / Job Duties:
  • 30% - Graduate (FNP) - Coordinates information session for prospective FNP students each semester. - Reviews FNP applications reviewing for completion compiling applicants data and providing this information to the FNP admission committee for their review and admission decision. - Coordinate/communicates with students on admission status holds and registration status etc. - Plans with FNP Faculty new FNP Student Orientations and Practicum Orientation each semester. - Complies FNP student data needed by the SoN leadership and faculty to submit required reports. - Completes initial application review in Slate sends to review committee bin then once apps are scored enters admission decision based on committee selection. - Communications with program applicants. Provides updates on application status prepares and sends acceptance and denial letters. - Updates the program handbook per Program Director requests. - Maintains program admission records required for accreditation. - Maintains a working relationship with program directors faculty and academic advisors. Providing any needed information related to the admission and registration process of the FNP Program. - (Essential)
  • 10% - MSN (nurse Leadership & Nurse Education) - Completes initial application review in Slate sends to program final decision bin for Program Director approval. - The MSN program admits a new cohort of students every seven (7) weeks. - Updates the program handbook per Program Director requests. - Maintains program admission records required for accreditation. - Maintains a working relationship with program directors faculty and academic advisors. Providing any needed information related to the admission and registration process of MSN program. - (Essential)
  • 25% - DEMSN - Reviews the DEMSN applications. Verifying completion verifies all applicants have completed required pre-requisite courses. Collects and verifies the applicants TEAS Test scores. Compiles all applicants data and provides this information to the DEMSN admission committee for their review and admission decision. The DEMSN program admits each fall semester. - Identifies and compiles a list of program applicants who qualify for the new community clinical partnership scholarships. - Completes initial application review in Slate send to review committee bin. - Updates the program handbook per Program Director requests. - Maintains program admission records required for accreditation. - Maintains a working relationship with program directors faculty and academic advisors. Providing any needed information related to the admission and registration process of MSN program. - (Essential)
  • 25% - Undergraduate (RN-BSN) - Coordinates information sessions for prospective RN-BSN students multiple times throughout the year. - Processes and reviews RN-BSN applications. Reviewing for completion compiling applicants data communicating with Undergraduate Admission to input admission decisions and send admission decision letters to applicants. The RN-BSN program admits a new cohort of students every seven (7) weeks. - Identifies and compiles a list of program applicants who qualify for the new community clinical partnership scholarships. - Accesses CastleBranch to verify all admitted students have completed the required background checks sending reminder as needed. - Assigns admitted students to the respective cohorts. - Attends the RN-BSN admission committee meetings. - Complies RN-BSN student data needed by the SoN leadership and faculty to submit required reports. - Updates the program handbook per Program Director requests. - Maintains program admission records required for accreditation. - Maintains a working relationship with program directors faculty and academic advisors. Providing any needed information related to the admission process of the RN-BSN Program. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Undergraduate (TBSN) - Compiles the program application data for each applicant. Ensuring all program requirements general education and nursing prerequisites have been completed. Calculates rubric score based on application submission/transcripts. Provides this to the admission committee for their review. - Sends admission decision leters to all applicants.; Acceptance Letters via DocuSign and Denial Letters via departmental email. - Serves on the Undergraduate Commencement planning committee held each semester. - (Essential)
