Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

To facilitate the clerical work needed to ensure that all facets of the Parental Involvement Program are completed to ensure learning opportunities are maximized and resources are adequately provided to ultimately improve student achievement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

High School Diploma or GED required

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

High level of English proficiency for completing tasks telephone communication and preparation of written correspondence including skills in spelling punctuation and grammar

Bilingual (English and Spanish) skills preferred

Ability to use Microsoft Word and applications and use of standard office equipment including copy machine printer 10 key calculator and fax

Ability to work with detail and with a high degree of accuracy

Demonstrated ability to use independent judgment to set priorities and make decisions

Ability to use discretion in handling confidential information

Experience:

Two (2) years experience with clerical and bookkeeping duties preferred

Clerical/Technical Pay Structure:Pay Grade 1

Pay Date: Monthly

Hourly Pay Range:

Minimum: $13.00

Midpoint: $15.60

Maximum: $18.20

Note:Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each persons job-related experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

purchase requisitions for supplies technology and/or materials for campus Parent & Family Engagement Specialist the Evening Study Center Program annual District Advisory Council and Parent Advisory Council meetings and Parent Leadership Conference(s) throughout the year.

2. Process and maintain documentation and vouchers for homeless students.

3. Process and maintain documentation and vouchers for Title I students identified in need of assistance.

4. Assist in the development and distribution of the Title I Parental Involvement Handbook.

5. Assist in preparation and distribution of Parental Involvement End-of-year Summative Report.

6. Assist in planning organizing and arranging the District Advisory Council and Parent Advisory Council meetings (required as per mandate Fall and Spring).

7. Assist in planning organizing and arranging Parent Leadership Conference(s) held during the Fall and Spring.

8. Aid in making arrangements for audio visual equipment and furniture needed District Advisory Council and Parent Advisory Council meetings Parent Leadership Conference(s) and for Region One ESL Classes.

9. Keep records (payroll forms agendas sign in sheets and minutes) up-to-date of all parental involvement activities/events/programs (i.e. meetings workshops seminars).

10. Assure that all records (agendas sign in sheets and minutes) for each campus are maintained to meet parent program component requirement.

11. Keep the Director for State and Federal Programs informed regarding the status on all projects undertaken and of directives or requests received internally or externally.

12. Attend monthly Parental Involvement staff meetings conducted by the Director for State and Federal Programs and/or Federal Programs Strategist to take minutes and to be kept abreast of the activities events etc. discussed and other pertinent information critical to the implementation of policies and services at the campus level.

13. Monitor the use of the Parent Resource Center ensuring that all participants have a pleasant and successful learning experience.

14. Assist participants that are present at the Parent Resource Center in retrieving resourceful links via district and campus websites.

15. Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.

16. Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator) in accordance with funding source guidelines.

Uses computer copier adding machine and other office equipment

Ability to communicate effectively (verbal); have the ability to work for several Parent Training Specialists; maintain emotional control under stress

Prolonged sitting; frequent standing; stooping; bending; kneeling; pushing; pulling; prolonged use of computer; working with frequent interruptions
