Position Highlight:

• Join nine (9) Trauma/General/Surgical Critical Care Surgeons and 21 Advanced Practice Providers.
• SMH is a Level II Trauma Center a Comprehensive Stroke Center and the only hospital providingtrauma care services in Sarasota County.
• FDOH Designation Trauma Center since 2016 and re-designated in 2023with no deficiencies.
• Over 175000 emergency visits and 2800 Trauma Activations annually

Responsibilities include:

• 13 shifts a month working thenightshift6:00 P.M. 6:00 be flexible and willing to work occasional weekends and holidays.
• Trauma response in the Emergency Department rounding in Surgical Trauma ICU and hospital floors.
• PA-C will see patients in the general surgery and trauma acute care outpatient clinic and provide Surgical First Assist in the operating room for both elective acute care and traumatic surgical cases.
• Ability to perform procedures including but not limited to placement and removal of chest tubes arterial lines and central venous catheters.

Requirements:

• NCCPA Certified with a license to practice in Florida.
• ACLS/BLS is preferred and can be obtained at Sarasota Memorial Hospital if not currently certified.
• Trauma experiencepreferred APPs must have current Critical Care experience for consideration.
• Qualified candidate must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and ability to work within a team.

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) reflects the mission vision and values of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System adheres to the organizations Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program and complies with all relevant policies procedures guidelines and other regulatory and accreditation standards. The APRN IV Trauma is highly specialized in Trauma protocols and procedures. An APRN is a registered nurse and therefore can perform all duties that are considered routine duties of a registered nurse. In addition an APRN holds a masters or doctoral degree. The APRN functions as part of the multidisciplinary health team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high-quality cost-effective advanced nursing care to patients within the APRNs scope of practice.

Require approved APRN board certification**. **Must be certified as a APRN by a recognized national certifying body having established standards for APRNs. The following organizations are recognized national certifying bodies for the Nurse Practitioner: American Academy of Nurse Practitioners; American Nurses Credentialing Center; National Certification Corporation for Obstetric Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing Specialties; National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners & Nurses; Oncology Nurses Certification Corporation; Critical Care Certification Corporation; National Commission on Certification; and American Association of Heart Failure Nurses.
- Require advanced degree from an accredited school or college of nursing* *Must have had a Medicare number in the State of Florida prior to 1/1/03; if not must have a masters degree in nursing in addition to being a Registered Professional Nurse who is authorized by Florida to practice in accordance with state law.
- Require minimum of one (1) year experience or post graduate APP resident in trauma services.

- Prefer ability to work independently effectively and collaboratively with physicians and other allied health personnel in the hospital and/or office setting.

- Prefer demonstrated knowledge of pharmacology as it relates to health care practice and current prescription writing skills/DEA licensing.
- Prefer demonstrated skills in documentation in medical records to substantiate accurate billing.

- Prefer effective interaction skills to ensure the successful care of patients in the clinical setting.
