The salary range for this position is CAD $41.42/Hr. - CAD $55.91/Hr.

Interested in becoming a Critical Care RN in the PACU Now is your chance!

Providence Health Care in collaboration with BCIT is offering fully-funded critical care education for nurses who would like to work in the Post-Anaestetic Recovery Unit (PACU). Funding will consist of 100% for tuition and books; and wages at rate of 100% of posted FTE. Once you are done the critical care education program you will receive a certificate and then begin to work in St. Pauls Hospital as a full-time PACU RN.

As a Staff Nurse youll be at the forefront of patient care working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to ensure patients/residents receive comprehensive support. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assess patients physical social spiritual and psychological needs
  • Develop implement and evaluate individualized care plans
  • Incorporate teaching into care plans to educate patients and families
  • Make referrals to resources as needed
  • Support fellow healthcare professionals
  • Operate within the framework of Providence Health Cares mission vision and values

BCIT Critical Care Program (Dates are approximate and are set by BCIT):

  • Pre-requisite by distance *Online* (NSCC 71 - 24 weeks): September 15th to March 15th 2026
  • Pre-requisite release days (PAID): December 10th & January 21st 2026
  • Classroom/Clinical: March 30th to June 20th 2026
  • Located at BCIT and St. Pauls Hospital

What You Bring

Education:

  • You must be a registered nurse in Canada in good standing and be eligible for registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Minimum of 1-2 year medical or surgical experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated competence in performing CPR procedures
  • Experience in teamwork decision-making and conflict resolution
  • Demonstrated a teaching aptitude
  • Proficient in clinical leadership

Your Day to Day:

  • Conduct thorough patient/resident assessments through chart reviews observations interviews and collaboration with peers
  • Develop implement and evaluate nursing care plans based on evidence-based practices prioritizing patient/resident needs
  • Adhere to established policies procedures and PHC standards while providing high-quality nursing care
  • Monitor patient/resident progress evaluate outcomes and adjust care plans as needed for optimal results
  • Maintain accurate records of assessments care plans patient/resident status and discharge plans using manual and computerized systems
  • Identify and address patient/resident and family learning needs providing education and referrals as necessary
  • Provide direction to staff promote teamwork and share clinical knowledge to enhance patient care
  • Support nursing research initiatives and contribute to the improvement of patient/resident care policies and procedures
  • Advocate for patients/residents rights and dignity facilitate discharge plans and collaborate with families and community resources
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the healthcare team
