Job Description

Shop Supervisor Trainee - 1st Shift

To perform this job successfully you must be able to report daily to the companys Montpelier OH facility to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified candidates with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Train under experienced Production Supervisors to learn the day-to-day operation of a department and management of its employees; including all performance management time-keeping and safety procedures.
  • Completion of the training program will result in a permanent position at the Montpelier OH location
  • Work with department leads to gain understanding of principle operations and workflow.
  • Train under existing supervision and HR to become fluent in company safety programs and their deployment.
  • Assist in expediting shop orders through departments.
  • Coordinate with management and/or employees from other departments in the machine shop process.
  • Help team to maintain machines and keep work areas in a clean and safe manner.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work 1st shift hours and be available before and after shift (approx. 6:30am - 3:30pm Monday thru Friday)
  • Previous experience in a leadership role is preferred but not required
  • Must be familiar with machining processes in one or all of the following: Lathes Mills Teeth Cutting
  • Must be able to read blueprints
  • Experience with lathes is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills; able to converse professionally with shop and office employees supervisors managers and executives
  • Proficient in MS Office products including Word Excel and Outlook
  • Committed to safe work practices
  • Detail oriented
  • Must be able to work in a non-climate controlled environment and be on your feet for most of the shift.
  • Must be able to multi-task on a consistent basis throughout the shift.
  • Requires average math skills; ability to read and comprehend instructions written in English complete logs document activities etc.
  • Ability to work well with a diverse group in a team setting.
