Job Description

Senior UX Researcher (Financial Services)

Drive impactful research for digital retirement solutions in the insurance industry. This remote role supports B2B and B2C product innovation through strategic user research. Collaborate with a global cross-functional team on a high-visibility transformation project with growth potential.

What is in it for you:

Salaried: $55-70 per hour.
Incorporated Business Rate: $70-85 per hour.
12-month contract.
Full-time position: 37.50 hours per week.
Weekday schedule from 9 am to 5 pm.
Work Location: Toronto ON hybrid work model.
On-site Requirement: On-site presence required as needed including quarterly in-person team meetings.

Responsibilities:

Contribute to the overall design strategy and user experience for digital products and services aligning with business goals and user needs.
Champion a human-centric mindset in design and user research.
Identify key research questions and define objectives in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Design and execute user research tailored to both end-user and business requirements.
Develop test plans and protocols including participant recruitment scripting and data collection.
Conduct remote and in-person test sessions using moderated unmoderated and A/B methods.
Collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data to uncover usability issues and optimize design.
Translate research findings into actionable insights and present them clearly to stakeholders.
Maintain ethical standards and confidentiality throughout the research process.
Engage with a diverse set of stakeholders (participants advisors sponsors) to gather insights.
Collaborate globally with experience designers and strategists from discovery through delivery.
Manage and prioritize multiple research streams in a time-sensitive environment.
Facilitate conversations with stakeholders and explain research methodologies and decisions.
Communicate effectively in cross-functional settings and contribute to a collaborative team culture.

What you will need to succeed:

A degree in design or a research-focused discipline such as anthropology or consumer psychology or equivalent experience.
Hands-on UX design experience in digital financial or retirement services (nice to have).
5 years of experience conducting user research for B2B and/or financial services products (retirement-related preferred).
Strong proficiency in a range of user-centered research methods and analytical techniques.
Ability to integrate quantitative data (e.g. surveys analytics) with qualitative findings.
Proficiency with research and design tools such as Figma Mural and .
Demonstrated ability to present findings to senior stakeholders including Directors and AVPs.
Experience working with internal and external users in financial or retirement services.
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with a team-first feedback-receptive attitude.
Confidence in engaging stakeholders and presenting work in collaborative settings.
Big-picture thinking with a keen eye for detail.
Effective communication and facilitation skills in both small and large group settings.
