This position serves as the Division Maintenance Engineer. Responsibilities include management and supervision of Division 10s County Maintenance Units Interstate Maintenance Bridge Maintenance Units Equipment Units Roadside Environmental Traffic Services and the Intelligence Transportation System/IMAP. Performs advanced engineering calculations; provides engineering technical assistance; assists in the development and implementation of various Division programs. Responds to inquiries from the public DOT management and news media etc. regarding DOT policies and procedures Division projects plans and proposed work.

Preference will be given to registered Professional Engineers. This position requires the ability to independently perform engineeringanalysesand prepare technical statistical and managerial reports. The employee must have the ability to communicate well both orally and in written form. The position requires the ability to maintain multiple projects and complete difficult assignments within specified time requirements. The employee must direct the work of other engineers apply engineering principles to difficult or complex engineering problems and make sound recommendations and decisions. Employee must be able to manage and direct annual budget for the reporting units. Prefer experience with SAP/R3 and BEACON.

Bachelors degree in engineering from an appropriately accredited institution and a minimum of seven years progressive engineering experience including four years of supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualifications
May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
