Job Description
Are you ready to have the most impactful summer of your life Camp Easterseals Virginia (ESVA) is the place for you! We are hiring for a passionate and energetic Camp Counselors Program Specialists (to include Lifeguard and Equestrian Specialists) Kitchen staff Nurses and Medical staff. Nestled in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of New Castle Virginia Camp ESVA is a special place where youll create lasting connections and help provide transformative experiences for children and adults with disabilities.
What Youll Do
As a Camp Counselor youll play a key role in creating a positive inclusive environment for our campers. Youll work closely with assigned camper(s) to support them in a variety of daily activitieseverything from arts and crafts and adapted sports to swimming and campfires. Youll also assist with personal care tasks like transfers feeding dressing and other needs ensuring that every camper has a safe enjoyable experience.
As a Camp Program Specialist you will help plan adapt and lead a variety of engaging activities for campers with varying physical and developmental needs. From arts and crafts to canoeing and themed evening programs youll ensure every activity is fun safe and accessible for all participants. In addition to supervising activities and maintaining program areas youll assist in the cabins with camper care and daily routines. Your creativity and support will play a vital role in providing a positive and memorable experience for every camper.
As a Camp Kitchen Staff member you will plan prepare and serve meals that are both nutritious and tailored to meet the dietary needs of our campers including accommodating food allergies and preparing pureed meals for those with swallowing difficulties. Youll collaborate with the team to ensure the kitchen operates efficiently and all meals are served on time. You will maintain a clean organized kitchen while adhering to health and safety standards. Additionally you may assist with preparing snacks and special meals for events like themed dinners and camp cookouts.
As a Nurse or Medical Staff member you will administer medications provide first aid and respond to medical emergencies including managing seizures and other health conditions. Youll deliver specialized care for campers with complex medical needs maintain accurate medical records and ensure health protocols are followed. Responsibilities also include reviewing camper medical forms educating staff on health protocols and being on-call for medical care. All care will be provided understanding medical orders from a local physician to ensure safety and compliance.

What Were Looking For
To join our team you must be an enthusiastic compassionate individual committed to creating an unforgettable summer experience for our campers of all abilities. We also require the following:
- You must be at least 18 years or older
- High school diploma or GED required (some college coursework preferred)
- A valid drivers license and clean driving record
- Physically able to lift and assist with transfers (up to 45 lbs) and assist with other personal care tasks. Must be comfortable with bending and kneeling.
- Be able to commit to a minimum of 4 weeks at our camp!
