What Youll Do
- Responsible for managing all ACO material inventory including nuclear material chemicals and consumables in accordance with site processes. Includes but not limited to SAP ME DYMCAS HMID/HMIS VMI OneBuy SBMOC and other material management systems.
- Responsible for ensuring completion of site commitments and milestones assigned to ACO and prioritizing operations within ACO to ensure mission success.
- Routinely interfaces with and is accountable to all organizational contacts that ship items to/from ACO occupied spaces including Procurement Supply Chain Transportation Production/Operations and Waste Management.
- Establishes the policies and procedures for workflow of materials through ACO including just-in-time support or stock replenishment of consumables.
- Establishes processes and procedures for moving materials in and between lab spaces for analytical work.
- Manages waste collection packaging and disposition from all lab spaces to the appropriate measurement point and/or waste disposal location.
- Identifies staff methods instruments or consumables required to maintain operations in the laboratories and proactively manages those resources for sustainability.
- Manages a technical staff of supervisors chemists/technicians facility support staff and bargaining employees.
- Leads team in disciplined operations and compliance with all regulatory requirements for transportation and packaging.
- Provides matrix manager support to the ACO Operations Manager Shift Manager System Health Manager Building Manager.
- Interface directly with site commercial and federal regulators to ensure effective operation and handling of material in transit.
- Manages execution of work under safety industrial hygiene and environmental regulations including direct oversight of the ACO Environmental Officer and Chemical Hygiene Officer and Waste Certifier.
- Maintains and conducts nuclear material inventory in accordance with site security and NMC&A requirements including process/item monitoring.
- Provides input to the building security plan for material movement and storage expectations.
- Responsible for effective management of material storage spaces including security vaults sample holding refrigerators flammable cabinets and other chemical storage.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelors degree: Minimum 12 years of relevant experience. Minimum 5 years of relevant supervisory/ management experience.
- OR 20 or more years of education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting. Minimum 5 years of relevant management experience.
- In addition the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e. High School diploma and 3 years nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).DOE 426.2A experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. (Ref. DOE O 426.2A)
Preferred Job Requirements
- Experience with Y-12 or other NNSA facility business and operations support resources practices processes and policies needed to solve problems and accomplish work.
- Experience integrating cross-organizational capabilities to solve enterprise level issues and customer requirements with competing priorities.
- Experience developing workflow plans and making decisions with corporate wide impact.
- Experience in operating or managing work under ISO/IEC 17025 NQA-1 or other equivalent regulatory structure.
