Job Description

JOB TITLE:
Campus Recreation Assistant

DEPARTMENT AND LOCATION OF JOB:
Student Engagement: Campus Recreation Furlong Smith Fitness Center/Wachholz College Center FVCC Kalispell Campus

ELIGIBILITY:
Open to all current FVCC Students enrolled in a minimum six of credits.

START DATE:
This position will start August 18 2025 Fall semester 2025

LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT:
Academic Calendar Year 2025/2026

PAY RANGE:
$14.00 to $15.00 per hour depending on experience

WORK SCHEDULE:
Flexible schedule between Monday and Friday 8 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Requires working evenings and occasional weekends. This position works 4-10 hours per week and will not work over 19 hours per week.

DRESS CODE:
Business casual with appropriate coverage FVCC Campus Recreation branded attire at activities/events and a name tag in theFurlong Smith Fitness Center located in theWachholz College Center.

POSITION PURPOSE/ROLE:
Under the supervision of the Student Engagement Coordinator and Campus Recreation and Wellness Coordinator the role of the Campus Recreation Team Member is to enhance the student experience and build meaningful relationships with students by providing a variety of recreational activities.

POSITION DUTIES:
  • Engage students in programs and activities actively and consistently
  • Attend mandatory weekly meeting
  • Complete a minimum of 4 hours a week assisting with the operations of the fitness center
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment on the fitness center
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Campus Recreation and fitness center desk
  • Assist with intramural sports operations under the direction of the Campus Recreation and Wellness Coordinator
  • Assist at Campus Recreation events trips and activities
  • Help create a fun and welcoming environment for students
  • Promote recreational events to the student body
  • Represent the Student Engagement Department in a professional manner
  • Other like duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent AND
  • Current FVCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits per semester AND
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Recreational sports or event planning experience
  • Intramural and officiating experience
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • General knowledge of sports and recreational activity planning/organization
  • General knowledge of intramurals sports rules and officiating
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends
  • Basic office and technology skills and willingness to learn new programs
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Ability to work with students staff and faculty
  • Willingness to try new things
  • Ability to sit/stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs.

STUDENT EMPLOYMENT GUIDELINES:
  • Students must be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credits for fall or spring semester to qualify for student employment.
  • Students may not work beyond 19 hours per week during semester.
  • Student workers shall be actively engaged; no use of cell phones (except in case of emergency) or social media.
  • Student workers shall demonstrate a commitment to the job with adherence to work schedule effective communication/interpersonal skills and quality customer service skills to be a representative of FVCC.
