Job Description

JOB TITLE- Head Custodian

CLASSIFICATION-Classified

FLSA STATUS- Non-Exempt

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR-Custodial Supervisor

RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM-Custodial SupervisorCoordinatorof Building & Grounds Building administration

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION- Maintain cleanliness of the school location and uphold a hygenic and sanitized environment to ensure safety of educational staff and students.

QUALIFICATIONS-
(Skills Knowledge Abilities Education Certification/Licensure Experience Equipment)

Skills Knowledge and Abilities

  1. Knowledge of effective and efficient cleaning procedures.
  2. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  3. Knowledge of district custodial operations.
  4. Knowledge of the fire drill regulations and procedures.
  5. Knowledge of emergency procedures and problem solving.
  6. Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  7. Ability to follow written and visual instructions.
  8. Ability to relate effectively with students faculty parents and other staff members.
  9. Ability to use technology effectively.
  10. Basic knowledge of repair techniques.
  11. Ability tosuperviseothers effectively.

Education

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

  1. Custodial supervisor experiencepreferred.

Equipment

  1. Cleaning equipment.
  2. Vehicles.
  3. Hand and power tools.
  4. Snow removal equipment.
  5. Computers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES-

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  1. Cleaning desnigated area per the assigned daily schedule.
    1. Clean and maintain floor.
    2. Clean and sanitize all bathroom fixtures.
    3. Clean and wash all glass surfaces.
    4. Clean furniture.
    5. Provide trash removal.
  2. Conduct ongoing maintenance.
    1. Replace light bulbs.
    2. Perform minor plumbing repairs.
    3. Clean filters.
    4. Replace ceiling tiles.
    5. Touch up paint as needed.
    6. Assist in keeping grounds free of rubbish.
    7. Inspect assigned area to ensure that all cleaning requirements are complete and that all building systems are working.
    8. Report major repairs tosupervisor via electronic work order process.
    9. Maintain the facility is in a condition of excellent cleanliness.
  3. Ensure the building is securely locked each night and unlocked each morning.
  4. Assist with snow removal as assigned.
  5. Maintain a positive rapport with students staff parents and the community.
  6. Ensure all work is performed in a safe manner.
  7. Use technology to submit work orders submit absences and communicate.
  8. Maintain a reliable attendance record.
  9. Maintain confidentiality.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION OF OTHERS-

  1. Supervision of other custodians in building

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS-

  1. Repetitious bending lifting and hand movement.
  2. Capable of lifting 50 lbs.
  3. Ability to climb stairs ladders and work overhead.
  4. Ability tow ork standing and moving for long periods of tiem.
  5. Ability to work an irregular schedule.
  6. Drug tobacco and alcohol-free while working.
  7. Must be able to see and hear within normal limits with or without corrective lenses or hearing aids.
  8. Ability to operate a motor vehicle used to travel between sites.

WORKING CONDITIONS-

  1. Ability to work inextreme and/or inclement weather.
  2. Occasional exposure to body fluids fumes noise hazardous materials and emergency situations.
  3. Occupational hazards which might include the possibility of being exposed to noise dust burns from chemicals and possible strains from improper lifting.
