Job Description

BronxWorks helps individuals and families improve their economic and social well-being. From toddlers to seniors we feed shelter teach and support our neighbors to build a stronger community. RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintenance/Repair

  • Assist the technician and superintendent in any repair as necessary.
  • Provide light electrical repairs on appliances fixtures switches outlets and circuits.
  • Maintain familiarity with all building systems including location and turning on and off multiple systems.
  • Perform facility painting as warranted.
  • Perform groundwork; including trash removal from the facility.

Safety Adherence/ Maintain facility standards

  • Ensure quality standards by following procedures including work assessment preparation and clean up.
  • Demonstrate ability to follow OSHA safety guidelines including use of appropriate PPE and chemicals.
  • Maintain required inventory on each floor including gloves bags mops brooms and PPE
  • Complete inventory forms for needed items.

Facility Cleanliness/ Unit restoration

  • Maintain compliance with DOHMH and Osha guidelines for cleanliness throughout the facility.
  • During unit turnovers pack clean patch/repair paint and conduct floor care as needed to ensure units are ready for new clients.
  • Sweep mop vacuum empty trash clean windows etc. regularly and as necessary throughout the facility including offices Recreation and Childcare areas.
  • Clean all bathrooms including single bathrooms twice a day.
  • Clean staff kitchen daily and refrigerator and stove weekly
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the manager.

Team Collaboration

  • Attending monthly staff meetings.
  • Participate in skills training and training related to all Bronxworks staff including mandated reporter and Osha standards training.
  • Collaborate with team members and leadership to restore units for occupancy.
  • Collaborate with team members and leadership to facilitate repairs and prepare for inspections.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of two years building maintenance experience.
  • Proficiency in English required; proficiency in a second language preferred.
  • Valid drivers license from the state in which the bearer resides preferred with less than three (3) points acquired in the last three (3) years
  • Strong maintenance skills.
  • Ability to pass a physical skills test.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to work with multiple agency personnel

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to climb and stand on a 15-foot ladder.
  • Ability to lift pull push and/or move a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand walk crouch or sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to climb five flights of stairs.
  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects.
  • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
  • Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather including inclement weather.
