Job Description

Governance Officer

Role Title: Governance Officer

Hours: 35 hours per week MondayFriday

Salary: 32431 - 40539 per annum

Contract: Permanent

Location: Dartford / Agile- 3 days a week minimum in the office is required

Interviews will take place 3 July 2025

As our Governance Officer youll play a key role in supporting the effective operation of our Board and committees. From preparing agendas and taking accurate minutes to maintaining statutory records and monitoring compliance across key legislative frameworks youll be a vital part of keeping our governance processes running smoothly.

Youll work across all areas of the business to ensure we meet our regulatory obligations provide assurance to senior leadership and uphold strong corporate governance across Moat and its subsidiaries.

What youll be doing

  • Provide full secretariat support to the Board sub-committees and working groups including agendas top quality minutes matters arising and helping to produce Board and Committee reports.
  • Support with governance documentation statutory filings registers and regulatory requirements (Companies House HMRC Regulator of Social Housing FCA).
  • Assist in the management and monitoring of compliance including Data Protection Whistleblowing Bribery Money Laundering and Consumer Credit.
  • Provide project support to the Chief Executive and cover for the Executive Assistant where required.
  • Maintain company registers and act as the main contact for sealing and legal document management.
  • Looking after our Board members including organising induction training and processing expenses.

Were looking for someone with:

  • Experience in administration and governance within housing or legal settings.
  • Excellent organisational skills and minute-taking ability.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • A good understanding of regulatory and governance requirements for housing associations.
  • Awareness of key legal frameworks including the Data Protection Act.
  • A high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office particularly Word and Outlook.
  • A relevant qualification (such as ISCA) or willingness to work towards one.
