REPORTS TO: Superintendent
POSITION SUMMARY:
Directs the operations of the school and maintenance of the total physical plant including new construction remodeling maintenance and repair. The Director of Operations is responsible for the daily supervision of the facilities team maintenance and custodial staff. The Director of Operations also ensures that the facility and grounds services meet the daily and long-range needs of the campus.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Appropriate Kentucky Certification as a Principal
- Experience and other qualifications as the superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable
SUPERVISES:
Maintenance custodial facility and grounds
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS: Plans and directs Maintenance and Operations departments regarding schedules methods and procedures of work material and equipment requirements and operational problems and conflicts assists with and solves existing problems and determines future requirements of personnel and materials
- Confers with school officials regarding problems pertaining to maintenance and grounds activities
- Advises on and approves work requisitions prepares plans sketches and specifications for work projects
- Inspects buildings and grounds for cleanliness safety work quality and needed repairs
- Develops and implements short and long range preventive maintenance programs including deferred maintenance
- Prepares annual budget and interim budget reports and monthly budget monitoring reports for the department
- Makes determinations of future stock materials and manpower needs
- Makes cost estimates on construction and repair work
- Recommends policy personnel and procedural changes
- Recommends employment transfer and promotion discipline and dismissal of personnel
- Develops in-service training programs; prepares periodic evaluation of employees incident reports and accident investigations
- Assists in the preparation of specifications for bids
- Consults and advises in regard to alteration of existing structures
- Works with architects school officials and contractors on the design construction or major alteration of school buildings reviewing and assisting in making changes in plans and specifications
- Manages facility use permits and lease properties; oversees the Districts Disaster Preparedness Planning
- FACILITIES: Plans and directs Facility department regarding schedules methods and procedures or work material and equipment requirements and operational problems and conflicts assists with and solves existing problems and determines future requirements of personnel and materials
- Supervises the maintenance and repair program for the Districts trucks automobiles tractors sweepers mowers and other powered grounds equipment
- Assigns work priorities to equipment maintenance and repair jobs
- Supervises and assists in the training of new employees
- Confers with school personnel law enforcement personnel parents and the public on matters related to vehicle safety student safety and discipline
- Maintains records of operations and costs and prepares and submits periodic reports regarding such
- Interviews prospective employees and makes recommendations regarding their employment
- Prepares periodic performance evaluations; and requisitions supplies and equipment as needed

- Methods practices equipment and supplies used in school building and grounds maintenance and operations

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
240 day contract with salary determined by the adopted certified and administrative salary schedules of the Trigg County Board of Education
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of certified personnel
