About the Role:
The Wastewater ProcessAnalyst Iwillbe responsible formonitoring andoptimizingone or more processes at thetreatmentplantunder the guidance of supervisory or senior staff. Example processes include liquids treatment solids treatment odor control gas handling and Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) treatment. The Wastewater ProcessAnalystwill also support capital project review/implementation energy and chemical conservation initiatives and the completion of regulatory tasks and reports. The Wastewater ProcessAnalystwill become an expert on the plantsvarious regulatory documents(e.g.Municipal Wastewater Puget Sound NutrientCSO Consent Decree and air permits) and help convey the requirements to plant leadership operators and maintenance workers.
About the Team:
The Wastewater Treatment Division (WTD) protects water quality and public health in the central Puget Sound region by providing high quality and effective treatment to wastewater collected from our local sewer agencies.WTD serves about 2 million people within a 424-square-mile service area which includes most urban areas of King County and parts of south Snohomish County and northeast Pierce County.

Job Duties
What You Will Be Doing:
Monitor andoptimizewastewater treatment unit processes (liquids solids/biosolids air emissions energy recovery reclaimed water etc.) and overall plant operations to ensure regulatory compliance and tooptimizefinal product quality (effluent biosolids air emissions)and operation (cost-effectiveness).
Assistin troubleshooting unit processes and associated equipment operation monitoring systems and controls.
Conduct research and evaluation of special studies and projects tooptimizeplant processes to ensure maximum performance and cost-effective operation asdeterminedby the supervisor or senior staff.
Make basic projections of chemical and energy use in plant processes and general plant operations for current and future conditions.
Prepare and/or review technical reports project proposals and progress reports as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience Qualifications Knowledge Skills
Qualifications You Bring:
- Bachelorsdegreeor higherinascientificfieldoranequivalentcombination of education andexperience in a physical scienceengineering fieldand/orwastewaterranging fromcertificate programsthroughdoctorate degrees andpostgraduate work.
- Skill in written communication techniques and principles to bemeasured through a detailed review ofsubmittedmaterials (e.g. cover letter and resume). The cover letter should outline how the candidates work experienceis applicableto this job posting.
- Computerproficiency as measured through familiarity withand use ofgeneralsoftware (Microsoft suiteapplicationssuch as TeamsOutlook and Excel)and/orthroughfamiliarity with and use ofindustry specific software (e.g.Lab Information Management SystemsDistributed Control SystemsWater Information Systems andComputerized Maintenance Management Systems).
- Work experience in wastewaterincluding but not limited tocoursework andlaboratoryassignmentsinternships at treatment plantsoranindustrialmanufacturer andprofessional working experience at a treatment plant orwastewater consulting firm.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Possession of a Washington State Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Group I certificate (or ability to achieve the Group I within 18 months of hire).

- Work Location:West Point Treatment Plant - 1400 Discovery Park Blvd Seattle WA 98199
- Work Schedule:This full-time position works a 40-hour work week. This position is covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible.
- Union Representation:This position is represented by Local SEIU 925 (Wastewater Treatment Division).
