Position Summary
The Athletic Director provides leadership and oversight for all aspects of the athletic program. This includes supervising coaches managing schedules and budgets promoting student-athlete development ensuring compliance withMHSAAregulations and enhancing community engagement through athletics.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and manage all high school and middle school athletic programs.
Hire supervise evaluate and support athletic coaching staff.
Coordinate athletic schedules transportation event staffing and facilities use.
Ensure compliance withMichigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA)policies.
Monitor academic eligibility and support student-athlete well-being.
Prepare and manage athletic budgets including equipment and facility needs.
Promote sportsmanship and a positive culture in athletics.
Serve as a liaison between the school families community and booster organizations.
Organize and oversee tournaments fundraising events and recognition programs.
Qualifications
This role requires a decisive leader who can navigate difficult situations and engage in direct solution-focused dialogue when needed.Required:
Bachelors degree in Education Sports Management Athletic Administration or related field.
Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
Knowledge ofMHSAArules and regulations.
Preferred:
Masters degree in Athletic Administration Educational Leadership or related field.
Previous experience as a coach or athletic administrator.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with athletic scheduling software and budget management.
Compensation
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience following the Sparta Area Schools salary schedule. Includes full benefits package (health dental retirement and paid time off).
