Middle High School Music Teacher/Band DirectorThe Middle High School Music Teacher/ Band Director position at Saugus Middle High School isdesigned to facilitate student success and growth in both academic and interpersonal skills. Theteacher/band director instructs students in various aspects of music including theoryinstrumentation and performance The teacher will implement a district-approved curriculum tailored to meet the specific educationalneeds of individual students The role requires creating a flexible safe and optimal learning environment while providingconstructive feedback to students caregivers and administration regarding student progressactivities and expectations The teacher will be responsible for developing and administering a school curriculum that alignswith the goals and objectives of the school district Plan for lessons and instructional materials Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning Maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping grading and attendance asrequired by the CBA agreement Accurate record-keeping grading and attendance maintenance are also essential components ofthis role as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement between the Saugus Public Schoolsand the Saugus Teachers Association In addition to general teaching responsibilities the Middle High School Band Director will overseethe Marching Band which includes selecting music for the marching band season securingperformance rights designing band performances The director will maintain supervise distribute and collect all equipment uniforms and inventoryrelated to the band Effective communication and collaboration with the Band Parent organization and DistrictAdministration regarding volunteering fundraising and budget requirements are crucial for thesuccess of the program Develop and administer school curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small-groupinstruction and student learning Select all music for marching band season and secure rights Design band performances Make recommendations for hiring marching band staff if the size of the program warrants Conduct tryouts for student leadership and soloists Supervise and direct practices and performances Coordinate transportation and facilities arrangements for rehearsals and performances Ensure student eligibility in band activities Coordinate oversee and plan all events and competitions including registrations travelarrangements and fundraising activitiesBenefits Salary determined by the Teachers Contract with Saugus School Committee
