Job Description

Extended Day Learning Center Paraprofessional

Purpose Statement/s: The job of Extended Day Learning Center Paraprofessional is done to provide support guidance and supervision of Kindergarten through Fifth grade students in the Districts Extended Day Learning Center Program.

Essential Job Functions:

* Supports EDLC Instructors and provides time for student homework as well as implements activities and games that support students enrichment.

* Reports to the EDLC Lead Instructor

* Communicates openly with EDLC Lead Instructor Program Coordinator office staff and administration at school site teachers parents and students for purpose of monitoring student needs including progress attendance and student safety.

* Maintains classroom equipment and students records.

* Monitors students classroom activities for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning center.

* Keeps abreast of current innovative child care practices related to the EDLC Program.

* Participates in various meetings for the purpose of sharing information and/or improving ones skills/knowledge.

* Performs record keeping scheduling and instructional support.

Other Job Functions:

* Administers daily weekly and monthly schedule of the EDLC Program of their site.

* Assists other personnel as may be required.

* Motors attendance.

Job Requirements - Qualifications:

* Experience Required: Prior job related experience paid or volunteer with school age children with satisfactory job performance or evaluation.

* Skills Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:

Skills to perform basic clerical functions perform basic arithmetic calculations operate standard office equipment use English in verbal and written form and use correct grammar punctuation and spelling.

Knowledge of District school and classroom procedures rules and consequences.

Ability to sit and stoop for prolonged periods understand and carry out oral and written instructions maintain confidentiality of student records meet schedules and deadlines read/interpret/apply rules regulations policies rapidly learn methods and materials used in a variety of instructional situations. Significant physical abilities include reaching/handling talking/hearing conversations near/far visual acuity.

* Education Required: High School diploma or equivalent.

* Licenses Certifications Bonding and/or Testing Required: Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance and Valid California Drivers License. Child Development units and school-aged experience preferred.
