Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Under general supervision assist in the coordination of receiving processing and distribution of the districts instructional materials. Assist in maintaining accurate inventories and conducting annual instructional materials audits to maximize the districts resources in the best interest of district staff and students to provide equitable learning opportunities for all students.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

High School Diploma or equivalent required

Valid Texas drivers Class C license required

Clear driving record required

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to follow detailed verbal and written instructions required

Knowledge of material handling equipment such as hydraulic hand pallet trucks etc. required

Ability to operate a counter-weight lift truck (forklift) or be trained and certified in the operation of a lift

truck within 90 days required

Knowledge of general shipping and receiving procedures required

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations

Knowledge of accounting for inventory preferred

Proficiency in Computers and Microsoft Office preferred

Experience:

Two (2) years experience warehouse shipping/receiving/delivery position preferred

Workdays:226

Pay Structure: Auxiliary Pay Grade 9

Pay Date: Monthly

Hourly Pay Range:

Minimum: $21.65

Midpoint: $25.77

Maximum: $29.89

Note:Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each persons job-related experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Receive and consolidate instructional materials shipments at Warehouse.
  2. Review and reconcile received inventory to documented inventory ordered and inform immediate supervisor of any shipment discrepancies.
  3. Prepare and process all instructional materials (consumables student and teacher editions) for distribution to campuses/departments according to need. Stack and wrap final work pallets for delivery.
  4. Assist immediate supervisor with receiving/recovering pick tickets for delivered campus instructional materials orders.
  5. Continuously provide campuses support at any time of the year to fulfill instructional materials need.
  6. Assist in receiving and processing large print and braille instructional materials.
  7. Assist in maintaining inventory and returning surplus inventory to TEA.
  8. Assist in maintaining accurate instructional materials inventory in Warehouse.
  9. Assist immediate supervisor in conducting annual Warehouse inventory.
  10. Assist campuses in conducting annual inventory audits.
  11. Assist campuses in providing support in removing out of adoption instructional materials from their book rooms.
  12. Assist warehouse with the distribution and collection of electronic devices.
  13. Assist with other non-instructional materials general warehouse duties as needed.
  14. Utilize technology as appropriate to the position (Excel or textbook inventory software).
  15. Effectively communicate and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  16. Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).

EQUIPMENT USED:

Computer barcode scanner document scanner calculator copier and other office machines hydraulic hand pallet trucks stock carts delivery step vans.

Mental Demands:

Work under time restraints to meet deadlines; maintain emotional control under stress

Concentration on detailed work; ability to communicate effectively (verbal or written); interpretive skills (policy procedures data); compiling and coordinating; maintain emotional control under stress.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Sitting; climbing stairs; pulling and pushing; reaching; repetitive hand motions frequent lifting of boxes;

frequent district-wide travel. Ability to frequently lift and carry packages and boxes in excess of 40 pounds.

Frequent driving of lift truck and delivery step vans. Ability to withstand temperature extremes inside the

warehouse and outside while delivering. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
