Title: Floating Core Substitute Teacher8 Positions
Description: Floating Core Sub applicants please be aware that you must be EXTREMELY flexible. You may be deployed to a different building and/or different grade band each day based on the districts needs. Please note that you will only be reporting to your HOME building if you are not needed somewhere else in the district. Tentative home building assignments are as follows: Early College @ Lehman (1) Cedar (1) Harter (1) McKinley (2) Patrick (1) STEAMM (1) and Youtz (1). Please note that home buildings are subject to change based on the districts needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree
- Valid Ohio Teaching license OR valid Ohio Substitute Teaching license issued by the Ohio Department of Education
- Agree to authorize Canton City School District (or Stark County ESC) to conduct a criminal history background check/fingerprinting

- Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities
- Establish effective working relationships with staff and students and the ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies
- Demonstrate the ability to follow oral and written directions
Job Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Sub Manager will inform you promptly via email if you are needed at another location/school building (PreK-12). Once you receive your assignment please report to the main office to receive instructions/materials for your assignment and be sure to sign out with the secretary/main office once you have completed your assignment. Follow each buildings policies and procedures. Building start times are as follows:
- High School (McK & EC@ Lehman) 7:00 am
- Middle School (Crenshaw & STEAMM) 7:45 am
- Elementary School 8:20 am
- Otherwise report to your assigned home building at the designated start time and the building principal/secretary will inform you of your daily assignment.
- Implement lesson plans or work schedules as provided by the classroom teacher or employee ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner which motivates students to learn and participate.
- Perform duties of absent teachers including but not limited to lunchroom duty hall monitoring and bus detail if applicable.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Maintain and respect confidentiality of student and school personnel information.
- Maintain discipline and classroom control fostering a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school policies.
- Ensure the adequate supervision to assure health welfare and safety of all students.
- Dismiss all students from the classroom before leaving the building.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
- Report all student injuries accidents illnesses and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately (must report prior to leaving the assignment at the end of the day).
- Provide a report or summary of activities accomplished lesson plans completed and not completed and additional information classroom teachers may need to know.
- Collect student assignments for teachers.
- Perform additional duties as may be assigned by building administrator or his/her designee in accordance with school policies and practices.
